Similar to what I did for 2000 PPV Rambles, here are my “end of year” thoughts now I’ve finished posting my 2001 PPV Ramblings.<\/p>\n

2001, on PPV at least since that’s all I’m basing this on, was AWESOME. 2000 was great, but 2001 exceeded it overall with more high quality matches. 2001 is really known for 2 major things; WM 17 and THE INVASION ANGLE. WM 17, while imo NOT the best WM event and certainly not the best PPV, still managed to live up to a lot of the hype and I do consider it to be one of the all time great shows. As for the Invasion angle, while it COULD have been so much more, and probably SHOULD have been so much more, was still unbelievably FUN and yes, provided us with some great matches on PPV’s throughout the year.<\/p>\n

So who was the 2001 PPV Wrestler of the Year? The answer is extremely obvious; Stone Cold Steve Austin!!! While yes, he had a couple of stinkers, he was nowhere near as bad as say Triple H the previous year for having half shit matches and half good. Austin absolutely DOMINATED the top 10 matches of the year list, featuring in SEVEN of the 10, and even getting a ***** match rating from me in the process! Runner up is Kurt Angle, a guy who normally I don’t care for, but 2001 was definitely his “career” year as far as I’m concerned. I just wonder how Chris Benoit would have finished on this sort of list had he not been injured. Same for HHH too. And like 2000, I gotta give an honourable mentioned to THOSE DAMN DUDLEYS who were consistent as hell the entire year once more.<\/p>\n
