King of the Ring 2002

Well I gotta watch the main event for this show at some point. Might as well be now. :(

Chris Jericho Vs Rob Van Dam – King of the Ring Semi-Final Match

They do some basic fancy looking counters and shit to start with, ending with both of them going for a dropkick at the same time. But they make it good afterwards when RVD does his “R! V! D!” thing to show that HE is actually the better man, and Jericho slaps him in the face. Which leads to RVD KICKING JERICHO IN THE FACE with a somewhat EPIC kick tbh. Looked like the toe of RVD’s boot jabbed Jericho in the eye lol.

From that point, RVD is in firm control, using his unique offence to take Jericho to the limit and beyond. He sets up for a 5 star frog splash… and Jericho pushes the ref into the ropes, crotching Van Dam on the turnbuckle!!!

BREAKDOWN~! And RVD kicks out. Guess it’s no longer his finisher lol, because the commentators don’t even MENTION the move, and the fans don’t react :lmao.

:lmao at Jericho as he chokes RVD with wrist tape. The ref tells him off and Jericho just screams back “BUT I’M THE KING OF THE WORLD!” at him :lmao.

Jericho smashes himself into the ring post and RVD begins his comeback and URGH he starts it with those elbows. Those god awful elbows. Oh god there is a HHH Vs RVD match on PPV in 02, isn’t there? SHITTY ELBOWS VS SHITTY PUNCHES await me :(.

:mark: Jericho avoids a leg sweep and counters with a sweeet Enzeguri to the head :mark:.

GERMAN SUPLEX~! RVD fold up and STAYS LIKE THAT until Jericho makes a cover and he kicks out!

Pace picks up now and they both go for high impact/signature moves and they do give us a pretty cool finishing stretch tbh.

LIONSAULT~! MISSES!!!

5 STAR FROG SPLASH~! MISSES!!!

LIONSAULT~! KICK OUT!!!

Jericho tries for something on the ropes, gets crotched and hit with a 5 Star Frog Splash and RVD advances to the finals!

This was pretty good :). Finishing stretch was tons of fun, and Jericho’s control segment was good too. Jericho then attacks RVD after the match.

Test Vs Brock Lesnar – King of the Ring Semi-Final Match

Yey Lesnar has his good music now.

Cool to see Lesnar against a big powerful opponent. Test can throw out some power stuff but more importantly Lesnar can throw out bigger and better power stuff which makes him look so much more impressive.

:mark: Test kicks out at one point and Lesnar can’t believe it so he just SMASHES his forearm into Test’s face and goes for another pin. Lesnar is awesome.

Heyman nearly has a heart attack any time TEST hits something successfully :lmao.

HOLY SHIT, the Big Boot near fall is :mark:. Looks great and Heyman probably died for a few seconds thinking it was over then and there. He recovers enough to distract Test, F-5 from Lesnar and this is done.

Fun stuff!

Jamie Noble Vs The Hurricane – WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

Man, I forgot how much FUN Noble and Nidia’s characters were lol.

Pretty well built up feud for this (ahhh, CW feuds, another reason to miss the brand split :( ), so there is some HATE~! here to play off :).

Helms is on a roll to start with, rocking Noble with some big shots and nearly lands a CHOKESLAM too. Then Nidia tries to grab his feet coming off the ropes, but she MISSES :lmao and because it’s the spot, Helms looks back and chases after her anyway, allowing Noble to KILL Helms with a legit KILLER clothesline that made me :mark:.

:lmao at Lawler trying to get JR to fantasise about Nidia :lmao.

Thing get a little dull with Noble applying a sleeper hold, which sucks :(. Then Hurricane makes his comeback but it falls a little flat tbh. The crowd just aren’t into the match at all, making the near falls just DIE because nobody cares :(.

HUGE neckbreaker from the top rope are least gets a reaction. Looked great. But unfortunately that can’t make up for the fact this match has been fairly dull for the most part. Which is a shame. It started off good, then died. Fans only hot hot for the neckbreaker and then the CHOKESLAM that followed, and then the match ends with Noble getting the win.

Eddie Guerrero Vs Ric Flair

Eddie is just :lmao early on in this match. He’s moving about all over the place, using his speed and quickness to out manoeuvre Flair, mocking him the entire time because Flair is old and slow and he’s young and fast.

I do hate that the commentators are REALLY putting Eddie down. They talk about how Flair is a master inside the ring and has probably forgotten more about wrestling than Eddie knows and all that shit… and I’m sat thinking to myself “Eddie has been in the business for what, 14/15 years at this point? And is a second generation star who grew up in and around the business and learnt a TON from his dad and brothers. Why the fuck are you treating him like some rookie?”.

Flair comes back with a LOW BLOW, showing that he’s still the dirtiest player in the game, and Eddie shows that he is FAR from a rookie by going to the outside to recover and prevent Flair from building any kind of momentum. I’m all for putting FLAIR over, but at the expense of Eddie? Feck off.

Guerrero continues to mock Flair, this time by using Flair’s own gameplan on him, targeting the legs and locking in a Figure Four!!!

A missed FROG SPLASH allows Flair to get back into it, and he shows Eddie how the Figure Four is really done! Benoit shows up and stands on the outside as we watch Flair fumble about on the mat trying desperately to do a bunch of quick pins but is too slow and too old to really execute them properly and it’s hilarious yet sad at the same time :lmao :(.

Eddie distracts the referee, and Benoit drags Flair to the outside and applies the Crossface! Referee doesn’t see him doing it but sends Benoit to the back anyway.

While the referee is busy with Benoit, Bubba Ray shows up! Bubba Bomb! Flair crawls into the ring, goes for a pin and gets the win!

Well this match was disappointing :(. Started off fun, but then it just becomes generic. Eddie attacks the legs. Flair makes a comeback. Interference. Finish.

Kurt Angle Vs Hulk Hogan

:lmao at the wig Angle is wearing.

Oh god this one starts off with a test of strength. The memory of HHH/Hogan is flooding my mind. GET IT AWAY!!!

:lmao at Hogan swinging his arm around to build up to a big punch… then when he comes time to punch, he stops spinning and throws the punch the OPPOSITE WAY HE WAS SPINNING. Come on Hogan, a guy your age can’t afford to waste energy like that!

Gotta give it to Hogan here though, he does take a lot of offence from Angle, which includes a bunch of suplexes lol. Taking all those back bumps can’t be good for the guy!!! :p

SLEEPER HOLD. Likely quite literally used as a rest hold here so Hogan can keep on going for the remainder of the match :p.

ANGLE SLAM~! HOGAN KICKS OUT~!

HULK UP~!

Hogan takes the wig off, but eh, seeing Angle bald for the last 11 years takes away any kind of impact it has lol :p. Angle is so disgusted that he decides to leave, but comes back when he sees Hogan wearing the wig :lmao.

CHAIR TO ANGLE’S FACE… DONE BY HIMSELF~! BIG BOOT~! LEGDROP… COUNTERED INTO AN ANKLE LOCK~!

Hogan taps out.

Match is fine. Nothing special, but I wouldn’t call it bad or anything. Hogan being limited probably works in the match’s favour tbh because it prevents Angle from going all out with MOVES~! :p.

BOOKER T AND GOLDUST. Goldust is pretending to be The Rock :lmao. The real Rock shows up and ruins everything. GoldRock > Real Rock. Goldust rubbing his nipples while Rock is talking is :lmao. Booker trying not to laugh is :lmao. Goldust rules.

Brock Lesnar Vs Rob Van Dam – King of the Ring Finals Match

RVD fights Lesnar HEAD ON from the get go, and Lesnar eats some fucking epic kicks to the face.

POWERBOMB. Welp, RVD is doomed lol.

Lesnar’s power here is just :mark:. Completely MAULS RVD. Can’t wait to see their lengthier Vengeance match soon.

BEAR HUG~! Lesnar makes it look INCREDIBLE. Heyman on the outside screaming “SQUEEZE!!!” adds a whole lot to it too. Lesnar is one of the few people who can BEAR HUG someone and not make me wanna shoot myself. A rare quality in a wrestler lol.

Damn, Lesnar catches a kick from RVD and just THROWS him up into the air and onto his shoulders. Incredible RAW POWER.

RVD starts to rock Lesnar, and to keep Lesnar motivated we hear Heyman constantly screaming “TITLE SHOT!!!” to remind Lesnar of the importance of this one. 5 STAR FROG SPLASH~! Heyman drops RVD neck first across the ropes, and RVD falls back into the cover! Lesnar kicks out, catches RVD from the ropes and levels him with an F-5.

ALL HAIL KING LESNAR!!!

Tremendously fun match. Short but good. Lesnar looks incredible, RVD gets some decent offence in and almost beats THE BEAST, which helps set up their rematch perfectly. :mark:

HHH backstage runs into THE NWO. They all HUG and shit. NWO tell Triple H to do the CLIQUE hand signal if he needs any help. I need help with this next match, can I get the NWO to review it for me instead? PLEASE? :(

The Undertaker Vs Triple H – WWE Undisputed Championship Match

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO. DO NOT WANT.

But it’s a main event, it’s a WWE title match, and it has THE UNDERTAKER in it. So I gotta watch it :(. BRB need beer.

:lmao at HHH getting his win back over Hogan to become #1 contender for this match. CAN’T HAVE SOMEONE BEAT HIM WITHOUT HIM BEATING THEM BACK!!!

Heyman being on commentary to scout Lesnar’s potential SS opponent might hopefully help me get through this one. HOPEFULLY. I’m scared :(.

OH GOD 27 MINUTES LEFT ON THE EVENT. I don’t think I have enough alcohol to get me through this.

Arrghhh, awful HHH punches right from the get go. Undertaker hates them too so he just fucking HEADBUTTS HHH. And not in the “put my hand on HHH’s head and headbutt my hand in a way that looks like I headbutted his head” but a “fuck this shit. HEADBUTT UNPROTECTED”. Maybe he was hoping it would knock either or both of them loopy so they could get through the match not really knowing what the fuck was going on. I know I could do with something like that.

Ahhh, Undertaker is in control for the moment. GOAT PUNCHES. But so far this appears to be like their Insurrextion match, with HHH refusing to give Undertaker anything for too long. GOTTA GET DEM SHITTY PUNCHES IN.

FFS HHH, LET UNDERTAKER HAVE A FECKING CONTROL SEGMENT. Do you not understand basic wrestling 101? HEEL BUILDS HEAT, BABYFACE MAKES COMEBACK. It’s the most basic of things, yet it fucking WORKS. Why should anyone care about you getting offence in if you do it every 30 bloody seconds for a 25 minute match? I gotta say though, I do :lmao at certain parts of this because UNDERTAKER seems to be shooting on HHH a few times, using some “old school” kinda moves that hurt like hell for real, such as rubbing his forearm into the face etc. I swear he’s pissed off with this match as much as we are, so he’s getting his shots in when he can :p.

Crowd has been AWFUL for this PPV btw. I don’t blame them for this match, but fuck, they’ve just not given a shit about anything or anyone for the most part. A hot crowd MIGHT have made this a little easier. MAYBE. We’ll never know though lol.

Still 15 minutes left :|. This seems to be lasting FOREVER. BRB need more beer.

:lmao WORST REF BUMP EVER. ‘Taker sets HHH up for a catapult thingy into the corner. The referee is stood to the side, seeing what’s coming. THEN HE RANDOMLY MOVES INTO THE CORNER TO GET SQUASHED BY HHH :lmao.

The Rock shows up and Heyman runs away. Now we have to listen to HIM while watching this crap? Urgh.

:mark: Undertaker kicks Rock in the face. BECAUSE HE CAN. Best part of the match so far. :lmao then Rock tries to get revenge and ends up decking HHH in the head with a chair then gets mauled by Undertaker.

LAST RIDE~!

Another referee shows up, only gets a 2 count, so Undertaker punches him in the face.

ROCK BOTTOM~! Fuck you, Rock. Stop getting in ‘Taker’s business. You had no reason to show up half way into the match on commentary. And you certainly had no business hitting a Rock Bottom. This is like No Way Out all over again. Match happened there because Rock put his nose in Undertaker’s business when he shouldn’t have. Motherfucker.

PEDIGREE~!

ROLL UP~! Undertaker wins!!!

My god. This is awful. Awful. AWFUL. And it just seems to last FOREVER too. 25 minutes? More like a fucking day. At least Undertaker wins in this one. Still, it might actually be worse than their Insurrextion match.

The Perfect PPV – WWF 2000 (Re-Done)

So I started this new feature with WWF 2000 already, however since then I also started weekly PPV Rambles, and have managed to get through 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 so far (not all on the site yet as I put 1 on a week). So by seeing matches again for the first time in years, some ended up not being as great as I once thought, and some managed to be even better. I was originally going to just go straight to 2001 with these Perfect PPV’s, and do each year as I finish posting all the rambles on the site, but then I decided to re-do 2000 mainly just for formatting reasons as I believe (at the time I’m typing this haha) only ONE match would actually change from the original (http://wrestlingview.co.uk/?p=725).

A quick update on the rules:

1. Only 8 matches
2. All titles must be defended, no repeated title defences
3. Each wrestler can only be used once

So here is the slightly upgraded version of the Perfect PPV – WWF 2000!

The Card

WWF Light Heavyweight Championship Match – Dean Malenko Vs Scotty 2 Hotty – Backlash – ***3/4 – 4

I used to think slightly higher of this match, so when I re-watched it some things weren’t QUITE as good to me this time around… however it’s still a fucking awesome match, and by far the best thing to come out of the Light Heayweight division since it started. Malenko’s best WWF match, and probably the best match Scotty has ever been in. Huge fan of the finish too… TOP ROPE DDT!!! Shame that the title never made it onto PPV again for 2000 (well maybe one of the “UK PPV’s”), but I guess if it absolutely HAD to be on just one PPV the entire year, I’m glad it got THIS kind of match!

WWF Women’s Championship Match – Ivory Vs Lita – Rebellion – *3/4 – 0.5

Well this is a change I actually didn’t expect. I had their Survivor Series match on my list last time, and honestly probably forgot this even happened. Match isn’t great, but it’s better than any of the other… 3 women’s title matches on PPV in 2000 (more than the LH title though!). At least we have a women’s match on the card that was an actual match, I think my only other option would have been a thong stinkyface match lol.

WWF Hardcore Championship Match – Shane McMahon Vs Steve Blackman – SummerSlam – *** – 2

The hardcore title had 2 halves in 2000. The first part of the year saw guys like Crash Holly and the Mean Street Posse using it as a comedy prop rather than a title. And it was fun. I love those crazy matches that took place anywhere and everywhere. But then Blackman won it… and things changed. Now it was more serious (to fit with Blackman’s character). He held onto the title for longer than most guys did with combined title reigns. He was dominant, and he had challengers beyond just the comedy characters. So when Shane took it from him thanks to about 10 guys interfering on his behalf, Blackman was determined to get it back… and what we got is a crazy, violent and GOOD match with Blackman beating the hell out of Shane, fighting off a bunch of corporate goons, and pulling out some crazy spots. I still remember Shane falling off the titantron like it was yesterday!

WWF European Championship Match – Eddie Guerrero Vs Perry Saturn – Fully Loaded – *** – 2

This is the match I thought would be the only change until I got to the women’s match lol. Amazing how much I used to love Eddie Vs Essa from Backlash… until I re-watched it. This match however was one I didn’t think too much of before, and while it does have its problems, overall it’s a good match and fun to watch. Plus it features the greatest steel steps bump ever LOL (check out my FL 2000 Ramble for a gif of it!). Eddie was good in this, Saturn was good, Chyna had her moments on the outside too, and I’m a HUGE fan of Saturn’s top rope elbow! If you do check out this match, just keep in mind it isn’t your average WWF formula match. If I’m remembering correctly Eddie controls the entire thing until right up to the end where he… gets beat haha. But I still enjoyed it and thought it was unique for the company at the time to work a match like this especially on PPV and for a title.

WWF Tag Team Championship Match – The Hardy Boys Vs The Dudley Boys Vs Edge & Christian – WrestleMania – ****1/4 – 6

Well, I STILL prefer this match ever so slightly to the first TLC match at SS later in the year. By SS, all 3 teams were pretty damn established in the company and their matches were more about keeping up their momentum by that time imo, while THIS match was all about them BUILDING that momentum and finally establishing themselves in the company. All 3 teams had interacted with each other in 2 on 2 action, and finally at WM we got all 3 teams meeting in a match for the first time (outside of I *think* a Survivor Series team match in 99) with the tag titles on the line at the biggest show of the year. It was their time to steal the show and put themselves on the map permanently… and boy did they ever! They managed to combine the likes of the No Mercy 1999 ladder match and Royal Rumble 2000 tables match and create similar spots with different people, then unique spots that might have been based off of things they’d already done, and we ended up with pure MAGIC. Also really love the platform they built with 2 ladders and a table, especially with how it fit into the finish (that table SMASHING was awesome). TLC matches were born out of this, and all 6 men’s careers were essentially born out of this too in the WWF!

High Profile Match – Steve Austin Vs Rikishi – No Mercy – ***1/2 – 3

Oh look, yet ANOTHER change haha. Originally I had a #1 contenders match between Rock and Big Show, which was I guess a version of a High Profile Match. On a re-watch I didn’t like it AS much, and then I discovered this match! Good GOD this is one hell of a fucking brawl. Rikishi ran over Austin and put him out for a year, so Austin is back and wants to KILL Rikishi. Quite literally. He tries to crush him with his car until the cops show up!!! Rikishi bleeds like a motherfucker, Austin looks like the baddest man on the fucking planet, and together they give us a very real feeling FIGHT. Tremendous.

WWF Intercontinental Championship Match – Chris Benoit Vs Chris Jericho – Backlash – **** – 5

So glad this match held up! The beginning of their great rivalry in WWF, and while they had a triple threat at WM, this was the first real match in that feud, and as great as it is, it isn’t even their best! Certainly their best in 2000 though, hence it being on the card instead of say, JD Submission match (which is almost as awesome). I love how they mix up straight up wrestling while still showing the world that they HATE each other. The best IC title match for 2000 on PPV (and likely TV too), and one of my favourite IC title matches too. Big fan of their feud (even if their SS match sucks haha), and this was the perfect way to start it. Finish is something I can see people not liking (mainly due to the commentary making it seem like it was confusing as fuck… when anyone with EYES and a functioning brain knew exactly what happened…), but I loved it!

WWF Championship Match – Triple H Vs Cactus Jack – Royal Rumble – ****3/4 – 8

MOTY for 2000, and just perfect for this card that it happens to be for the WWF Championship and can be my main event! An incredible street fight that put HHH on the map as a main eventer and showed the world that Mick Foley could still fucking GO even if he was hurting and looking to retire at the time. Originally he WAS supposed to retire here, and that would have been a perfect ending tbh. Violent, sickening and awesome. Cactus looked like a mad man, and HHH was finally seen in a different light, as someone who COULD go up against a crazy hardcore bastard and come out on top in the end. And this was the SECOND time Foley helped MAKE Triple H too!

So there is my revised WWF 2000 Perfect PPV card!!! A few more changes than even I was expecting, but it is what it is haha. A total of 30.5 on the CAL SCALE, which is 5.5 more than the best show of the year! Honestly I was expecting more, but unfortunately the majority of truly great matches from 2000 PPV that could have added more points were WWF title matches, or featured the same few guys, so I was unable to use most of them!

Do you agree with my card? Think I could have done better? Let me know by adding a comment below!

Judgment Day 2002

:mark: Undertaker in the main event for the title :mark:.

Eddie Guerrero Vs Rob Van Dam – WWF Intercontinental Championship Match

Backlash was :mark:. Insurrextion was :(. I remember this being really good though :). PLEASE HOLD UP. Sick of matches I used to like being shit on a rewatch lol.

RVD rocks Eddie early on and LATINO HEAT gets HOT. Things get worse for him when RVD makes him look like a fool, faking a dive off the ropes, causing Eddie to STOP AND DROP so RVD can land a split legged moonsault!!!

Nice to see RVD going after the back of Eddie, just as Eddie did in their Backlash match. He even busts out some of the same moves too!!! :)

Eddie’s control segment starts off with a PUNCH TO THE FACE which makes me smile :). Similar to Insurrextion, Eddie focused on the head and neck of Van Dam as it was the NECKBREAKER on the IC title that brought Eddie the win.

:mark: Eddie keeps selling the back while on offense, and RVD even goes after it again during a comeback. Those shoulders he does to someone in the corner? He does that to Eddie while he’s stomach first in the turnbuckle, so he’s driving his shoulder into the BACK of Eddie. Both guys seem to be on top form, even if I’d likely guess that Eddie was putting the majority of this match together :p.

POWERBOMB :mark:. Just like how Eddie returned on Raw in 02, and goes to follow up with THE SUPERIOR Frog Splash, but he wastes too much time and RVD escapes! Now it’s time for HIS version of the Frog Splash and holy fuck Eddie BARELY gets out of the way!!!

Oh man, then the big STARE DOWN and shit when both guys make it to their feet, knowing that they BOTH missed their Frog Splashes :mark:. They ain’t happy so they just CHARGE at each other.

Backlside by RVD and holy fuck Eddie BARELY kicked out! RVD goes for a spinning kick and Eddie counters that into a backslide of his own, gets the feet up on the ropes and EDDIE WINS! EDDIE WINS! :mark:

Loved this a ton. Always thought their Backlash match was superior, and well it still kinda is, but damn this is VERY close. Loved it more on this watch :mark:.

The Hardy Boys Vs Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman

Well Lesnar’s partner here is a HUGE step up from Planet Stasiak lol.

Lesnar doesn’t even make it to the ring before JEFF flies over the ropes… only to get CAUGHT!!! Baseball slide from Matt and Lesnar goes down. Hardy’s chase Heyman, allowing LESNAR to come in from behind and his DOMINATION begins :mark:.

GOLDBERG chants for Lesnar :lmao. Unlike Ryback those chants didn’t last long because he QUICKLY became something different the more and more his WRESTLING skills showed.

I like how Brock uses his sheer power to absolutely dominate, but he’s still very much a rookie in the company and every now and then makes a small mistake that guys like the Hardy Boys can capitalise on momentarily just to SURVIVE.

HARDYS GET HEYMAN~!

F-5! And Heyman starts screaming TAG ME, so Lesnar does. Then Heyman falls over the ropes trying to get in :lmao. Heyman rules. And he pins JEFF HARDY. He truly is THE BEST IN THE WORLD.

Steve Austin Vs The Big Show & Ric Flair

OH MY GOD THE FIRST FEW MINUTES OF THIS ARE UNGODLY AMOUNTS OF FUN. The stuff with Show is like their Insurrextion match on 30x fast forward, plus you have Flair in their eating a ton of shots to the face. :mark: at Austin locking the Figure Four in on Show, then as Flair comes in to break it up, Austin sits up and punches him in the face :lmao. Then Austin puts FLAIR in the Figure Four, and Show goes for an elbow drop so Austin rolls onto his side to avoid it!!! And then we have some STEEL CHAIR SHENANIGANS~! FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN FUN.

:lmao at Austin walking over to Show on the apron, punching him in the face and then screaming WHAT? WHAT? WHAT? at him :lmao. Everyone in this just looks like they are having the time of their fucking lives. The crowd are HOT for everything too. :mark:

:lmao Flair is fucking awesome too. He literally drags Charles Robinson over to him, shows off his GUNS and while the ref is busy looking at some MUSCLE, Flair’s other arm is smashing up against Austin’s balls. Then Flair hits on some girls in the front row :lmao.

AUSTIN IS SCREAMING IN PAIN AT THE HANDS OF 2 MEN~!

Things slow down as they work over the leg of Austin, but Flair constantly talking shit makes everything tons more interesting :mark:.

STUNNER ON BIG SHOW~! Show didn’t even fall over! SUPERKICK BY X-PAC~! Austin dodges and Show is down! STUNNER TO FLAIR~! And Austin wins.

WELL FUCK ME SIDEWAYS AND CALL ME MARY. That overhead belly to belly suplex OVER THE ROPES was epic. EPIC. Edge takes a fucking KILLER bump off it. Now THAT is how you transition into a control segment. Good god!

:lmao at Lawler saying Edge has a head the shape of a Dinosaur. HE DOES HAVE AN ODD SHAPED HEAD!!!

Stuff happens for a while, honestly feels like filler until Edge begins his comeback, which is pretty sweet in all honesty. Baseball slide to Angle’s legs to knock him off the apron is amazing with Angle smashing his fucking FACE on the apron on the way down is fucking :mark:.

MONSTROUS German Suplex. No wonder Edge needed neck surgery after his 2002 if he keeps up taking insane bumps like that lol.

BRIAN HEBNER takes a killer bump off a SPEAR. With the referee down, Kurt bring out a chair and ends up getting a Spear instead!

Bunch of finishers now for some NEAR FALLS~! In the end Edge catches Angle with a roll up after escaping the Ankle Lock. ANGLE IS GOING BALD.

Match is fine, kinda reminds me of their Backlash match, just with some better SPOTZ~! lol. Lots of fun to be had but nothing overly special.

Triple H Vs Chris Jericho – Hell in a Cell Match

Apparently BERRYING~! Jericho at WM wasn’t enough; HHH needed to do it inside the cell too!!! :p

Might I just say right now, FUCK YOU. I’m not sure who you are but you know who you are and that’s what matters. I’m about 30 seconds in and all I can hear is HHH making retarded noises every time he punches or gets punched. AARRGHH!!! :p

Might I also just say right now, that HHH is still a terrible fucking brawler. Those punches make me cringe. Combine the awful execution with THOSE NOISES he makes and I wanna stab him.

They fight on the outside. Throw each other around into the cell. And then for some reason Jericho brings out a ladder. Uuuuhhhh… why? To use as a weapon? Ok… but why a ladder? It’s big and bulky and wastes time and energy to use it. Why not a steel chair? Simple and probably MORE effective. Using a ladder in a LADDER MATCH is fine because after you deck your opponent with it, you can try and CLIMB it. Inside the cell though? It’s fucking DUMB. Edge made good use of it in 2008, but he had like, legitimate reasons for it. THIS AIN’T A TRIPLE CAGE JERICHO. NO NEED TO CLIMB ON TOP OF THE CELL THROUGH A HOLE IN THE TOP.

Fuck me, the ladder ends up on the outside and Jericho actually goes out to bring it back in. Only to get hit with a STEEL CHAIR that HHH wisely brought in, because fuck fucking about with a ladder when you can swing a chair a bazillion times easier.

Oh just fuck off Jericho. What does he go ahead and do next? GETS THE FUCKING RING STEPS INSIDE THE RING. He is struggling to pick them up. LAWLER on commentary even wonders what the fuck he’s doing. HHH JUST BROUGHT A CHAIR INTO THE MATCH. HE USED IT ON YOU EFFECTIVELY. USE IT ON HIM YOU DUMB FUCKING CUNT.

:lmao at Tim White telling them to “KEEP IT IN THE DAMN RING!”. It’s a HIAC match Timmy. They are gonna do whatever they want. Dumb or otherwise, it seems. Besides, you better shut your mouth Tim. Careers can end in HIAC ya kn… aaand there goes Tim White. GOAT HIAC bump. Flies off the apron, SMASHES into the side of the cage and he is DONE. Literally. Off to attempt suicide every week on TV!!!

SLEDGEHAMMER TO THE FACE~! Lol, HHH is a moron. Using a sledgehammer. Should have set up the ladder, struggled to the top carrying the ring steps and dropped them onto Jericho or something!!! This match isn’t about BERRYING Jericho, its about making him look like the dumbest motherfucker on the planet apparently! :lmao

Now we are outside the cell (they had to go get Tim), and Jericho gets DDT’d through a table, then runs away from HHH who has a 2×4 wrapped in barbed wire. Sorry, he doesn’t run away, because that might be SMART, and this match is all about making Jericho look DUMB. He climbs to the top of the cell, where obviously HHH can’t get at him…

WALLS OF JERICHO ON TOP OF THE CELL. :lmao and the new referee climbs on top of the cell to check on HHH. Because you can WIN on top of the cell now apparently. A rule that has NEVER BEEN MENTIONED BEFORE, in fact I seem to recall them SPECIFICALLY mentioning in a previous HIAC match to this that you CANNOT WIN ON TOP OF THE CELL. More bullshit thrown at us in this match.

PEDIGREE attempt, and HHH gets back body dropped, but the cell doesn’t break :(. This match might have been saved by an insane HHH Cell Bump. Nah, fuck that shit. PEDIGREE TO JERICHO ON TOP OF THE CELL and this is done. Thankfully.

Urgh. Pile of uber shite. Retarded use of retarded weapons by a seemingly retarded wrestler. Retarded rules made up seemingly on the spot for a retarded match. RETARDED AS FUCK. Didn’t like this at all. Can’t think of anything good to say about it.

Hulk Hogan Vs The Undertaker – WWE Undisputed Championship Match

:mark: Undertaker I believe debuts his new theme song here. Basically “You’re Gonna Pay” instrumental version. It’s awesome :mark:.

Undertaker is wearing a belt of his own coming into this match; a bright yellow Hogan weight lifting belt! And he starts whipping the Hulkster the moment he steps into the ring!!! Hogan takes a bunch of shots, makes a comeback and starts giving it right back to ‘Taker!

The referee takes the belt away from Hogan and officially rings the bell.

“HOLY SHIT DID YOU SEE THAT OMG!!!” :lmao I don’t know who that is but that fan is amazing :p. That was his reaction to Undertaker taking his big bump over the ring steps btw.

HOLY SHIT DID YOU SEE THAT OMG? That was MY reaction to Hogan hitting a SUPERPLEX. In 2002. A HOGAN SUPERPLEX. Damn lol!!!

‘Taker goes for the legs of Hogan and things slow down and not in a good way, but thankfully it doesn’t last too long before Hogan makes a comeback. LEGDROP~! COUNTERED INTO A HALF BOSTON CRAB~!

:lmao at Hogan struggling to even take a chokeslam. Oh he can do a superplex, but take a chokeslam from Undertaker? LOLNO.

HULK UP~! Undertaker looks at Hogan like “fucks sake, didn’t this all die like 11 years ago?” :lmao

LEG DROP~! UNDERTAKER KICKS OUT OF THE LEG DROP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vince McMahon shows up, just as Undertaker grabs a chair, but Hogan kicks it back in his face just like Undertaker did to Austin a month ago! Leg Drop! McMahon gets involved and gets a Leg Drop!

CHAIR TO HOGAN~! CHOKESLAM~! NEW WWE CHAMPION!!! UNDERTAKER WINS!!!! :mark:

I still remember marking out like FUCK when I watched this live :mark:. Seeing Undertaker win his first major title since 1999 was :mark:. Undertaker posing while he gets the referee to put the title belt on him is :mark:.

Match is decent, nothing more. I get more enjoyment out of it than most no doubt :p.

So the show opens with Hulk Hogan, and I guess it’s kinda cool to see him on the show given the fact he was there for the 1st ever one and whatnot. Then Austin comes out, followed by Rock, and they all slurp each other and waste 20 minutes of our time :p. Didn’t really do anything for me, but for someone who is a fan of these guys they probably liked it.

Daniel Bryan Vs Triple H – Winner Gets Added to the WWE WHC Triple Threat Main Event Match

:mark:

Holy fuck, the video package for this match is immense. Song, while not something I’d listen to usually, is absolutely PERFECT for the whole thing. Build up for this match has been both unique and great overall. Unique in the sense that this WASN’T SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN, but a series of events FORCED WWE to push Bryan. The fans were a huge part of it, turning him into THE most popular star in the company for the last year or so at least. And then Punk left too. He was originally set to face HHH at WM (which honestly seemed weird as shit to me lol), so him leaving left the spot open for Bryan to take advantage of what imo SHOULD have been his spot to begin with anyway.

Holy fuck, STEPHANIE MCMAHON looks tremendous. THAT OUTFIT too. FAPTACULAR.

HHH gets another big “epic” WM entrance playing up on the whole King of Kings gimmick. It’s both cool and hilarious to me. Found it a little odd he didn’t go with the King of Kings entrance theme though.

DANIEL BRYAN :mark:. YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! The crowd are on fucking fire for the guy.

Damn, we had to wait 35 minutes before the first match finally starts at WrestleMania lol.

Love HHH wanting to start this off with a handshake. Works 2 ways for me; the first is that the last time this happened, HHH handcuffed Bryan and beat the fuck out of him. The other, seems more of a throwback to Bryan being “an Indy star” with ROH and how they had the code of honour. But this ain’t ROH. There is NO honour in this ring. So Bryan kicks the hand away and rolls up The Game to try and get a quick win!

Unfortunately for Bryan, all the attacks over the last few weeks have left him hurt, specifically the left arm and shoulder. As great as Bryan is in the ring, even a guy like HHH can counter the superior wrestling skills with just ONE shot to the injured arm.

HHH is the SESEBRAL SUSSASSIN~! Nice to see JBL bringing his A game to WM. I guess he’s just a B+ commentator 8*D.

Bryan showing the world and HHH that he’ll do ANYTHING to gain the advantage in this one and win. DIVE OVER THE TURNBUCKLE TO THE FLOOR~!

LOTS OF SHOTS OF STEPHANIE IN THAT FUCKING OUTFIT :mark:. Love Stephanie being there, not just because FAP, but because she’s awesome at screaming at Bryan all the way through, telling him he’s nothing and he’ll never win and shit.

The match has been pretty even so far until THE GAME attempts a Pedigree on the table, only to be countered by Bryan, which is in turn countered by HHH who SMASHES that bad arm onto the table! FUCKING OUCH! Stephanie loved it!

Image

Mmmmm… STEPHANIE in THAT OUTFIT shouting YES. WM XXX, ladies and gentlemen! :p

AWESOME counter to Bryan’s suicide dive, followed up by that AWESOME slam on the apron targeting Bryan’s bad arm, with some great trash talking from STEPHANIE!

I miss Drew McIntyre being pushed as something other than a pretend band member :(. He would do awesome shit like that on a weekly basis.

Awesome unique version of a crossface chicken wing (Hi BOB :) ). Followed by a CROSSFACE. Nice to see HHH changing things up and not sticking to basic arm locks and shit.

:mark: HHH with Bryan in the Crossface, telling Bryan to “ask them to help ya!”, meaning the YES MOVEMENT fans. If HHH was like this for his entire career I’d think better of him. I actually think it’s worse when he only brings out this kind of awesome in a super rare occasion. It’s like Orton currently. WE KNOW he can be good… he just doesn’t seem to be motivated enough to BE GOOD all the time. Why? Fuck knows.

Fans are awesome in this, really getting behind Bryan and not trying to be all “smarky” and cheering for HHH because he’s putting in his best performance in like, forever.

GERMAN SUPLEX~! ANOTHER GERMAN SUPLEX~! I like how we get the shades of Benoit with that, but done differently enough so we don’t quite get the “BENOIT FEEL” from them. We get to see the awesome moveset of Benoit in this match with both men doing various moves, but never in a way that makes you think “OMG BENOIT”, which is something WWE would be against :p.

HOLY FUCK HHH JUST DID A TIGER SUPLEX. HHH. TIGER SUPLEX. WHAT?

Image

Bryan is working on fighting back, starting with a big sunset flip powerbomb, then those running dropkicks in the corner, and then…

DEAD. Murdered at the hands of HHH and that fucking LARIAT. Awesome.

Somehow Bryan gets back into this thing again, attempts a headbutt, but HHH gets his knee up right into the injured shoulder! CROSSFACE! This could be it for the YES MOVEMENT!

Bryan fights and fights to get out of the hold any way he can, rolling HHH over but it only makes things worse. The fans get behind him though, and he finds a way to not only escape, but counter the hold into the YES LOCK :mark:.

Bryan has the fans to help him fight out of submissions, but HHH has STEPHANIE. I know if I had her on my side I’d do whatever I could to reach the ropes too! :p

DOUBLE SUICIDE DIVE! Bryan has got his second wind! YES! YES! YES! YES! HERE COMES THE RUNNING KNEE…

SPINEBUSTER~! PEDIGREE~! IT’S OVER… NO! BRYAN KICKED OUT!!! YES! YES! YES! YES!

HHH going for another Pedigree, Bryan counters into a pin but HHH STILL has the arms locked! Bryan plays dead so HHH can’t lift him into position, causing the game to SMASH HIS KNEE INTO BRYAN’S HEAD.

Speaking of head shots, kick to HHH’s head! RUNNING KNEE! RUNNING KNEE! RUNNING KNEE!!! THE GAME IS DOWN, THE GAME IS OVER!!!

DANIEL BRYAN WINS! DANIEL BRYAN IS GOING TO THE MAIN EVENT OF WRESTLEMANIA!!! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

After the match, Stephanie slaps the shit out of Bryan before HHH attacks him from behind and mauls the bad arm! He wants to make sure Bryan can’t make the main event!

Awesome, awesome match. HHH looked better here than he has in YEARS. FUCKING YEARS. I’d still have both Undertaker WM matches ahead of this one, but for personal performances, this is the best from HHH in a long long long long long long long time. We’re talking about 6 years or so. His arm work was spot on, and he made Bryan looks incredible too. Really went above and beyond to bump like a champ for Bryan’s offence. Even took the running knee well for a change :p.

Bryan on the other hand was out of this world. The selling of the arm work, the comebacks, the bumping for HHH’s shit, getting the fans into the match. Best. In. The. World.

Stephanie looking FAPTACULAR certainly adds to the whole thing too :p.

Match is a big clusterfuck until they get rid of all the jobbers and the ones left can work some fun exchanges and eliminations. Justin Gabriel takes on hell of a bump for his elimination though :mark:.

John Cena Vs Bray Wyatt

Yet another AWESOME video package from WWE. How do they not win fucking awards for this? Oh yeah, it’s wrestling, god forbid anyone praises them outside of the business. Again the song, while not something I’d normally ever listen to, is so damn PERFECT for the video and the basis of the match.

Anyone else find it weird that they quite often have bands play entrance themes live for HEELS at WM? Not complaining too much because it has usually meant things like MOTORHEAD showing up or LIVING COLOR last year, and that’s always good. Plus here it was awesome too. I find myself randomly humming Bray’s theme around the house, so listening to the damn thing live make it stick in my head even more :p.

Match starts off wonderfully, with Bray trying to sacrifice himself to Cena, to show the world that Cena ISN’T who or what he says he is. But Cena isn’t going to compromise himself. He doesn’t wait to take the cheap way out, he wants to EARN a victory.

The story for this match feels very similar to the Kane/Cena feud from a couple of years back lol, where Kane wanted to bring out the evil in Cena. Here though, it feels… well it IS better done. Just because of Bray’s character and all the promos leading up to this match. He doesn’t just want to make Cena into a monster, he wants to do it in order to show the world that HE IS RIGHT. That Cena ISN’T the guy he claims to be. And when that happens, regardless of the outcome of this match, BRAY WINS.

Cena gets frustrated with Bray and all the mind games and trash talk, and he finally snaps a little, taking the fight to Bray who is just LAUGHING while taking this beating. Cena is fighting a battle against himself here, as he struggles to stay who he is while also trying to destroy Bray. While I get what they are going for, and I AM liking what they are doing, I think it is definitely one of those times when the fan reactions towards Cena go against the story of the match. The fans WANT Cena to snap and be violent. They LIKE Bray. They BELIEVE in what Bray is saying about Cena. Crazy how the fans both play into the match on Bray’s behalf but at the time time kinda ruin what they are trying to do with Cena :lmao.

Things slow down a bit with Bray using a headlock, which I really didn’t understand lol. Seems out of place for Bray to use that hold, and it’s not like it fit into the story of the match anywhere.

Then THIS happens and makes up for it:

Image

:mark:

“HE’S GOT THE WHOLE WORLD, IN HIS HANDS” Oh man, the fans singing that mid-match was AWESOME. Ties into the whole “Bray is a cult leader” deal with the fans getting behind him, and being up against Cena helps too because a lot of the fans DO believe that Cena isn’t exactly what he claims to be lol.

TOP ROPE LEG DROP COUNTERED INTO A POWERBOMB~! :mark:

Ouch, that… weird move that Bray did looked like it HURT for real. Was an awkward spinning slam where Cena went ribs first into Bray’s knee, but almost like it wasn’t meant to happen like that lol.

APRON DDT~!

Bray is really taking the fight to Cena, capitalising on the fact that Cena seems to be freaked out by the whole situation and being more cautious.

DIVE ONTO HARPER AND ROWAN~! Almost like Cena was getting PARANOID and decided to take out Wyatt’s goons before they could really get involved. Further proof that Bray is in CENA’S HEAD and making him question everything.

Cena continues to battle with himself, as he picks up the steel steps and has a chance to DESTROY the false prophet. Unfortunately, as he battles with himself, he takes his eye of Bray and gets CREAMED.

:mark: Bray singing “he’s got the whole world, in his hands” while holding Cena’s head in his lap might be my favourite part of this match. A wonderful example of Bray adding oodles of character work into his matches.

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT~! KICK OUT!!!

Interference from Harper and Rowan, almost costing Cena the match. And honestly, they were justified in doing it! HE ATTACKED THEM FIRST!!!

SPEAR TO HARPER THROUGH THE BARRICADE~! Cena letting out his frustrations on Harper knowing he won’t lose the match for it, nor technically prove that Wyatt is right as he isn’t letting the monster out on HIM.

SISTER ABIGAIL~! Dammit, Cena kicked out.

:lmao as Bray goes nuts on the outside and looks to use the Spanish announce table… the Spanish announce team scream at him and point to the new French announce table as if to say “break their table, not ours!!!” :lmao.

Cena won’t give up in the match. He just kicked out of Sister Abigail, so now Bray has to step up his game. He brings in a steel chair… and THROWS IT TO CENA. He’s trying to once again sacrifice himself in order to bring out the monster in Cena.

:lmao at the ref telling Cena not to do it because it’s not him. Cena seems to agree, and uses the chair on Rowan instead! AA to Wyatt, and Cena leaves with his legacy intact.

Awesome match. Great storytelling throughout, well executed, and some great action as well.

The Undertaker Vs Brock Lesnar

Oh boy. I guess I gotta watch this again. I was in a daze for the rest of the day after watching this on Monday lol. Maybe I can watch it through different eyes this time around. After all, the shock of what happened is over. Kinda.

Build up for this was mostly just terrible… but they DID produce some great videos with Heyman basically TELLING US the Streak would end. But we didn’t listen. We didn’t believe. And why should we? The build was just Undertaker beating up Lesnar a couple of times, with Lesnar hitting an F-5 on the go home Raw show. That was it. They put very little effort into the whole thing. This was BUILD UP as a giant throwaway Streak match, just something to add another number to his ever growing list of WM wins, before moving on to say, Cena the next year.

Despite the poor build, my love for both guys + their history of great matches had me excited to see what they’d do.

Undertaker going somewhat OLD SCHOOL for his entrance, wearing the hat and coat rather than the hooded cloak attire he’d mostly used over the last few years. The caskets for all his victims was a great set too. Undertaker setting Lesnar’s on fire, basically destroying it, was also kind of a hint that the casket WOULDN’T BE NEEDED (nor could it be used because, you know, BLOWN UP). That’s if you wanna look at every little detail and try and get something out of it :p. WHICH I DO :p.

Bell rings and BAM, BAM BAM, huge rights and lefts from Undertaker to the BEAST Brock Lesnar. BELLY TO BELLY OVERHEAD by Lesnar! That just seemed to make the DEAD MAN mad.

Undertaker goes after the arm of Lesnar early on, something he’s known for, as it allows him to wear down his opponent and let him have the advantage early on.

Man, some fucking AWESOME shots to the face by Undertaker.

SNAKE EYES~! But instead of going for the running boot, Undertaker tries for a Chokeslam! Almost like he knows he should try and end this one early. But Lesnar counters into an F-5 attempt! Neither man can get that big move in so early, so they have to go back to wearing each other down. And then it happens. If I’m not mistaken, I believe THIS was where Undertaker got the concussion :(.

Image

After that move, Undertaker just wasn’t in the match like he was before, so I’d definitely go ahead and say that was the move that caused it. Such a shame. Really would have liked to see where the match would have gone had it not happened.

And yet, as unfortunate as it was, you could say it ADDED to the match. From this point on Undertaker is fighting just to try and stay in this match, showing that maybe he IS getting too old to hold on to the STREAK, especially against an opponent like BROCK LESNAR.

Despite the concussion, Undertaker, with help from Lesnar, has enough about him to still get shit done. Lesnar beats him up and beats him down, but Undertaker keeps showing signs of life, keeps coming back, and does little things like get his hands up to block shots. All things you’d expect from the Dead Man, only this time they weren’t as effective. He was showing signs that this could be the end of the Streak. That this could be too much for even Undertaker to handle. He’s TRYING to fight with all he’s got, but it just isn’t enough.

CHOKESLAM~! Undertaker manages to hit it, but he takes a little time to make a cover, and Lesnar ain’t staying down.

F-5!!! Undertaker JUST kicks out. He’s STILL The Undertaker, and still capable of hanging on to his Streak, but how much MORE of this can he take?

Undertaker is SO out of it, you can see Lesnar walking around while Undertaker is still down from the F-5, and has to TELL Undertaker to lock in Hells Gate. Undertaker can’t even lock it in properly :(.

But AGAIN, the actual action, not Lesnar having to call spots for Undertaker, works into the story of this whole match and feud. Undertaker is showing signs of being DONE, while still trying to hang on to the one thing he has left; his STREAK. But no matter what he does, be it Chokeslam or Hells Gate, Lesnar is UNSTOPPABLE. It’s like the roles are reversing before our very eyes. Now it’s UNDERTAKER being unable to put away the opponent. It’s a changing of the guard.

KIMURA LOCK~! UNDERTAKER COUNTERS INTO ONE OF HIS OWN~!

:lmao at the referee telling MARK to let go of the hold when Lesnar makes it to the ropes :p.

OLD SCHOOL COUNTERED INTO THE F-5 :mark: :mark: :mark:. Totally called the spot when I saw this match the first time, but it doesn’t make it any less awesome lol.

KICK OUT!!! UNDERTAKER IS STILL BREATHING! HE’S STILL FIGHTING!!!

Oh man, Heyman is incredible on the outside. “THIS IS YOUR DESTINY. HE’S TAKING THIS AWAY FROM YOU. YOU’RE BROCK LESNAR. YOU’RE A CONQUERER!”

LAST RIDE OUT OF THE CORNER~!

TOMBSTONE~! THE STREAK CONTINUES! NO!!! LESNAR KICKS OUT! LESNAR KICKS OUT!

UNDERTAKER SITS UP :mark:. He’s slowly getting back into this… but Lesnar counters another Tombstone attempt into a THIRD F-5!! Just like their Hell in a Cell match from 2002!

1…

2…

3?

LESNAR WINS! THE STREAK IS OVER! GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY, THE STREAK IS OVER! 21-1!!! BROCK LESNAR HAS CONQUORED THE STREAK!!!

Wow. I mean just WOW. I’ve seen this already so I knew it was coming but… I think I’m back in shock lol. The Streak is OVER. Undertaker has been defeated at WrestleMania. WrestleMania 28 was billed as the “End of an Era”, and I’ve said my piece on that and how I DID feel like it was an end of an era, but THIS is on a whole other level. This might be the biggest shock and biggest moment in general I have EVER seen in wrestling. It’s crazy to think how a loss in a fake sport can affect me so much, but it does. Undertaker is THE single reason I fell in love with this business and why I have continued to watch all these years even when things got bad. His STREAK was something I’ve always loved, something I got behind every year despite who his opponent was. Even with the crappy build to this match, I was EXCITED for this match. Hell, it was the ONLY match on the show I was truly excited for. And for it to end, knowing I’ll never likely look at a WM match the same, even IF Undertaker was to wrestle a few more times, is just such a HUGE moment for me. I don’t know if this is his last match, a large part of me hopes it isn’t, but if it is… THANK YOU ‘TAKER. My all time favourite. One of the best EVER. A true legend who will go down in history as one of the biggest stars this business will ever see.

As far as the actual match goes, I enjoyed this a whole lot more the second time around. Yeah, probably WOULD have been even better without the concussion, but I don’t think the concussion TOOK ANYTHING AWAY from it. The story of the match/the feud going into it was that Undertaker was old and Lesnar was the one man to really take advantage of that, even at WrestleMania. Lesnar DESTROYED Undertaker, and despite trying to hang on, Undertaker just couldn’t get it done any more, and the Streak ended. A great story and a great match, one I appreciated a ton more this time around.

Maybe I’m overrating this because of my love for the Dead Man, but you know what? FUCK YOU. I don’t care.

Vickie Guerrero Diva Championship Invitational Match

Hmmm… was gonna NO this one, but since it’s only 6 minutes long I wanna watch just to see AJ retain the belt which no doubt caused people to go crazy :lmao.

AJ and Tamina go back to back while surrounded by the rest of the divas, and get mauled. Swear to Jebus I couldn’t name all the women in this match. Not like most of the matter anyway lol… especially with what happens on Raw the next night :lmao.

Lol, looked like we were gonna get a really badly put together TRIPLE Sharpshooter spot but someone rolled up Nattie from behind first. Thankfully.

:lmao at Summer. “YOU!!!” as she points and screams at AJ, only to be taken out. At least, I think it was Summer.

:lmao at half the women just literally SAT WATCHING THE MATCH because they can’t think of anything to do while someone else is being highlighted.

MOVES~! Everyone takes a turn at hitting someone with… a move. Don’t even think most of them were finishers or anything. Then again this IS a diva match so anything could be a finisher for them.

OMG THE BELLAS ARE ALONE IN THE RING WILL THEY FIGHT EACH OTHER? DO I CARE? THE ANSWER TO BOTH IS NO.

OMG THE BELLAS ARE ALONE IN THE RING AGAIN WILL THEY FIGHT EACH OTHER? THE ANSWER IS YES, BUT I STILL DON’T CARE.

Nice tilt-a-whirl backbreaker from… one of the divas.

:lmao at Niomi “pushing” Tamina off the ropes. SHE BOTCHED A PUSH.

AJ in the ring for like, the second time in the match (first time to start it lol). BLACK WIDOW. TAP OUT. AJ RETAINS :mark:.

Glad AJ retained, and while I’m not happy she lost it the next night, at least she lost it to Paige and not some random slut involved in this match. Am I the only AJ fan left btw? I mean, the only one who isn’t weirdly OBESSED with her. Just normally obsessed :).

Randy Orton Vs Batista Vs Daniel Bryan – WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match

Main event time!!! Wow, only SEVEN matches on the main WM card? That’s awesome tbh. Meant all the matches got the time they needed. Some long, and some short (let’s face it, the 6 man tag and divas matches NEEDED to be short). Plus, no pointless giant music shows in the middle of the show, just some entrances sung live. Shame we still had that 20 minute slurp fest at the start of the show :p.

Bryan is injured going into this match, so he strikes first!!! Running dropkick to Orton, then as Batista tries for a powerbomb, he hurricanranas the Animal out of the ring. Aaaand then gets his arm SLAMMED to the mat and we are left with Batista Vs Orton :|.

Crowd are SILENT for Batista and Orton going at it :lmao. Could you seriously imagine if the main event STAYED as a singles match between these two? :lmao

YES! Bryan gets back into the ring. Because FUCK ME Batista/Orton was even duller than I thought it would be. Also good for the crowd because they don’t give a SHIT about anything not Bryan. And why should they tbh? Batista hasn’t done a damn thing worth cheering since he quit in 2010, and Orton, as Lawler pointed out on commentary, has been one big AFTER THOUGHT for this whole thing lol.

Bryan hits a diving headbutt! YES LOCK TO BATISTA!!! Nooo! Triple H shows up and drags the referee out of the ring. YEY STEPHANIE IS STILL IN THAT OUTFIT!!!

Batista takes advantage of the distraction with a Spinebuster and BATISTA BOMB. SCOTT ARMSTRONG IS BACK! BRYAN KICKS OUT THOUGH!!!

SUICIDE DIVE TO HHH, ARMSTRONG AND EVEN STEPHANIE MCMAHON!!! THE FANS ARE GOING NUTS!!!

But Bryan make a BIG mistake by hurting STEPHANIE. SLEDGEHAMMER TIME! Bryan takes it away and levels THE GAME right in the fucking FACE! Rollup to Batista as the normal ref gets back into the match, but bah, Orton breaks it up :(.

And now Orton and Batista decide to work together as a team in order to take out Bryan, because he’s NOT going to give up!!!

POWERBOMB INTO A NECKBREAKER THROUGH A FUCKING TABLE~! Bryan is destroyed, and fuck me, Orton lands BACK FIRST on a monitor. Oh, and yes, it was a NECKBREAKER, not an RKO. RKO is the other way around you plebs…

Image

Awesome spot, and a DAMN good way to take Bryan out of the match so the other two can go at it. Obviously sucks for fans as we wanna see BRYAN rather than Orton and Batista go at it, but yeah, great spot for the match. Like I said in my notes while watching for the first time, better than just a suplex though the table like… well actually like they’ve done a few times in triple threat matches lol.

Hilarious that they stretcher BRYAN out while ignoring Orton, despite the fact he was probably on the worse end of it all :lmao. I guess Batista picking him up is the reason.

Fuck me, moments after landing BACK FIRST ON A MONITOR, Batista slams Orton back first onto the table and then into the barricade :lmao. Poor bastard.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! DANIEL BRYAN GETS OFF THE STRETCHER AND PUTS HIMSELF BACK IN THE MATCH!

YES LOCK TO ORTON! YES LOCK TO ORTON!!!

Fucks sake Dave, piss off already.

YES LOCK TO BATISTA! YES LOCK TO BATISTA!!!

Fucks sake Randy, piss off already.

:lmao at the “spear” by Batista to Bryan. He just kinda ran his head into Bryan’s shoulder.

RKO! Holy fuck the first time I saw this I actually thought Batista wasn’t kicking out. I mean, I wouldn’t put it past WWE to fuck up like that. THANKFULLY, Batista does kick out. Best thing he’s done since he quit in 2010 :p.

Orton runs at Batista for a Punt and… KNEE TO THE FUCKING FACE!!! :mark:

Batista throws Bryan out and goes for a cover… and thankfully Orton kicks out. Best thing Orton has done since… I dunno, the Elimination Chamber probably.

KNEE TO BATISTA! YES LOCK! TAP OUT BATISTA, TAP OUT BATISTA!

BATISTA TAPS OUT!

DANIEL MOTHERFUCKING YES BRYAN HAS JUST WON THE WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP IN THE MAIN EVENT OF WRESTLEMANIA 30! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

A truly AWESOME fucking moment to end the show. WWE did the RIGHT THING. They did was what BEST FOR BUSINESS. And it was incredible. Bryan fucking deserves this moment and I’m glad he got it.

So the match… honestly, I don’t think it was all that good. It was downright AWFUL any time Bryan wasn’t involved. The match had its moments, and they all came from Bryan. Either him taking out THE AUTHORITY, taking that POWERBOMB INTO A NECKBREAKER THROUGH A TABLE, or RUNNING HIS KNEE INTO FACES, then applying the YES LOCK and fucking WINNING. Everything else just wasn’t good. And I’m not saying that JUST because I think Batista is a steaming pile of untalented turn and Orton is mostly an unmotivated cock, but because they genuinely did NOTHING unless Bryan was there with them.

WrestleMania XXX Random Notes

So while I watched WM XXX earlier, I noted down some random stuff lol. Thought I’d share it while I wait for my WrestleMania Special video to upload. Proper WM Ramble/Review coming later this week.

Hogan promo. LOL. Fucks up about 6 times in 30 seconds.

Austin!

Rock? Bah.

SLURP SLURP GOBBLE GOBBLE. They just suck each other off for 15 minutes.

HHH Vs Bryan. Said weeks ago this should open the show.

STEPHANIE. Holy FAPTACULAR.

Great match! HHH finally did what was best for business; made Bryan look like a bizallion *insert your currency here*. Some good arm work, plenty of unique/rarely used holds and submissions.

Stephanie, other than looking FAPTACULAR on the outside was great at taunting Bryan and cheering on her husband.

PEDIGREE KICK OUT :mark:.

KNEE TO THE FACE :mark:.

BRYAN WINS!!! Totally expected Bryan to get beat down afterwards though. Should make his victory in the main event that much sweeter.

The Shield Vs The Old Age Outlaws & Kane time. LOL at Shield interupting the Outlaws. Anyone else see their interview segments on WrestleMania Today over the last few days? Really cool stuff.

JAW BREAKER LARIAT :mark:. Love that Ambrose has started using that.

Wow, crowd are fucking DEAD for this early on, even with Reigns breaking people in half. Disappointing, thought they’d at least go ape shit for THE SHIELD. Maybe bryan wore them out?

SPEAR TO KANE.

DOBLE SPEAR TO THE OUTLAWS.

:lmao at Ambrose tagging in, then immediately tagging in Rollins.

DOUBLE FUCKING POWERBOMB BY REIGNS :mark:.

Holy shit lol, THE SHIELD just ran through the old bastards in about 2 minutes. Best way they could have done it I guess, because who wants to see Kane and the Outlaws go for 10+ minutes in 2014 lol?

Fun, and done the best way possible. I’m happy lol. REIGNS.

DANGEROUS DANNY DAVIS :mark:. Best WM special appearence EVER.

Huh, no surprises in the battle royal. Was expecting maybe some random legend or something to return for a few minutes before being eliminated. Kofi and Cody steal Rey and Morrison’s RR spot where they hang on to the ropes and fight. Looked shitty though.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO! Brad Maddox eliminated :(. He was my pick. Bah, Henry and McIntyre gone too. Someone really sucky is gonna end up winning this aren’t they?

HOLY FUCK at that Kofi spot. I’ve often wondered why people have never done that before with the steps. Kofi might not be all that bad.

CESARO in the final 2 with Big Show. Come on WWE, do it, give CESARO the fucking win. PLEASE.

YES! YES! YES! CESARO PICKS UP THE 987987LB BIG SHOW AND SLAMS HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE TO WIN THE ANDRE THE GIANT MEMORIAL BATTLE ROYAL!!!

Wait… Bryan won the opener so he main events the show. Shield Vs Old Men lasted about 2 minutes and was a squash for the Shield. Now Cesaro just won the battle royal. WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH THE BOOKING TEAM?!?!

Man oh man, Bray Vs Cena. HE’S GOT THE WHOLE WORLD, IN HIS HANDS. In terms of “wrestling” (aka HOLDS AND MOVES~!), this was basic as shit, but it wasn’t about that in the slightest. Tremendous character work from Bray, and Cena trying to fight with himself to stay as the “Hustle, Loyalty and Respect” guy rather than a MONSTER was ok, but eh, I wasn’t buying into it too much. I guess the fans being totally against Cena prevented it from really making an impact.

Cena unleashing his inner monster on Harper and Rowan, almost to prevent himself from getting DQ’d by doing it to Bray, was at least a good way to go about it. But this match was totally BRAY’S match. Guy was awesome. Doing that freaky upside down spider thing to stop a 5 Knuckle Shuffle, taunting Cena throughout the match, playing up to the crowd who were behind him, and when he was sat holding Cena’s head and singing “He’s got the whole world, in his hands” I kinda :mark:.

Bray giving Cena a chair and trying to sacrafice himself was :mark:.

:lmao at the referee. “THIS IS NOT WHO YOU ARE, DON’T DO THIS”. Cheesier than everything HBK did in the WM 28 HIAC.

Oh, the booking team is back to normal. Cena wins lol. But at least this loss hasn’t damaged Bray. I think he still comes out a winner. Great match. Fuck me this WM is kinda ruling so far :p.

:mark: Undertaker Vs Lesnar time.

What… what just… I don’t… but… I uhhh… Brock just… I mean Undertaker just… *head explodes*

Ok, ok… wait… how… what?

The Streak. Is. Over. Wow. I mean just WOW. I absolutely did not see that coming AT ALL. 21-1. If Undertaker retires now then I might just give up on wrestling :p.

Match itself… was probably the worst streak match in years honestly. Had no life to it, the fans were utter shite (like they have been most of the night so far, useless twats lol), and nothing really happened until they started trading finishers.

But props to Undertaker for actually letting the streak end. He’s a pro and he knows that ending it was probably for the best. Lesnar is awesome, so IF WWE can run with this, then it’ll be great. But with Lesnar being part time I’m not sure he was the right pick. Also… this totally fucks up a potential Cena/Undertaker match :(.

Still in shock.

Divas match next? After Undertaker just lost I’m not in the mood for watching a bunch of women try to wrestle, even if AJ is in there. HOLY SHIT AJ RETAINED :mark:. Well that’s something at least.

So The Streak actually ended, right? I mean I didn’t fall asleep and imagine it, right?

:lmao at Paul Orndorff with that moustache :lmao.

Piper and Mr T :lmao.

Undertaker is actually 22-0 yes? My crazy mind making me think he lost :lmao:|

:lmao at Bob Backlund :lmao.

WWE WHC match. God I hope Orton is motivated for this one. Bryan gonna need all the help he can gets with Batista involved in this, and anything less than a motivated Orton is gonna mean Bryan had to carry 2 twats on his shoulder. The winner of this should keep the belt until next WM and challenge Undertaker to try and break the streak BECAUSE IT’S NOT OVER DAMMIT :(.

HHH and FAPTACULAR STEPHANIE are back with Scott Amrstrong to try and screw Bryan. Stephanie can screw me any time looking like THAT.

SLEDGEHAMMER TO HHH~! Wow, this whole thing is building up to a finish… but there is still 17 minutes left? Fuck me. I don’t think I wanna sit through another 17 minutes of Batista and Orton.

POWERBOMB INTO A NECKBREAKER THROUGH THE TABLE~! Well that was an awesome way to take Bryan out of the match at least. Better than a fucking suplex like HHH and HBK did to Benoit 10 years ago lol.

BRYAN IS BACK THANK FUCK. Totally been skipping through most of this btw lol. I just cannot contemplate watching Batista and Orton one on one.

TAP OUT BATISTA! TAP OUT BATISTA! YES! YES! YES! YES! BRYAN WON! BRYAN WON! BRYAN IS THE NEW WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT MOTHERFUCKING KING OF THE WORLD CHAMPION!!!!

The fuck was that random woman and kid that came into the ring at the end lol?

No Way Out 2002 Ramblings

No Way Out 2002

Show kicks off with the debut of the NWO in WWE! The NWO at NWO. They claim they are friendly.

Scotty 2 Hotty & Albert Vs Christian & Lance Storm Vs The Hardy Boys Vs The Dudley Boys Vs Billy & Chuck Vs The APA – Tag Team Turmoil

We go from the NWO to THE WORM AND THE HIP HOP HIPPO. Apparently the winning team gets a tag title shot at WM. I seem to recall a 4 way tag match at WM though :lmao.

GIANT SWING~! But Cesaro isn’t in this match .

SPLAT. That’s the noise made when Storm took a bump over the ropes. Ouch.

How on earth did Scotty last as long as he did in WWE lol? I mean, he survived talent cuts when Vince bought WCW and brought in some of those guys, he was out injured for a year and actually managed to come back… and he even held the tag titles in 04 going into WRESTLEMANIA 20 and retained them too!

Ah well, he and Albert are gone first, and next out is the Hardy Boys. AND FAP FAP LITA FAP FAP!!!

Standard stuff and then Christian and Storm are gone. Yawn.

STACY FAP FAP KEIBLER! Oh and that tag team she manages.

These 2 teams have been feuding since 2000. And JR continues to confuse Matt and Jeff, just like 2000!

RUSSIAN LEG SWEEP COMBINED WITH A SIDE EFFECT :mark:.

STACY AND LITA FAP FAP FAP FAP.

LITACANRANA~!

Matt escapes D-Von’s finisher and rolls him up for the win. This part of the match was super fun. Both teams have amazing chemistry still and they get decent time given the kind of match.

Afterwards Matt gets attacked in the ring, and then Jeff gets a 3-D on the floor! Billy & Chuck are next in and they essentially have a handicap match against Matt!

SUPERKICK by Chuck is so devastating it knocks HIM down too! Fameasser and Matt is done.

APA :mark:. It all comes down to this!

If Billy & Chuck didn’t get stuck with the homo tag gimmick, they could have been a really good team. Well they WERE still a good team but didn’t have longevity with the gimmick nor were they taken too seriously. You have the veteran Billy, multi time tag champ and all that shit, then you have Chuck who is young with RAW POWER, a ton of potential, and takes direction well from Billy. A good combination allowing them to take on ANY team.

They do well controlling the APA, but in the end the APA are just too much with their power and insane love for FIGHTING. HOLY FUCKITY FUCK at the Clothesline from Hell to end the match! APA win! WM tag title shot!!!

Fun match. Doesn’t hold a candle to the great 01 TTT at JD, but this is still good.

FLAIR~! UNDERTAKER~! TEASING WM MATCH~!

Goldust Vs Rob Van Dam

:mark: GOLDUST.

So this is the match that made me a Goldust fan as far as RING WORK goes. I’d only seen bits of his AE run and the matches I did see weren’t very good (Vs HHH, mostly). It was only after he returned at the RR a month earlier and then had THIS kind of match with RVD that I became a fan. Just hope the match holds up now!!!

Goldust wastes NO TIME going after RVD, clotheslining him over the ropes the moment he steps into the ring! Well, takes him 2 attempts because RVD isn’t able to go over the first time apparently :lmao.

The KICKS of RVD put him back on the offensive after being thrown over the ropes, so Goldust has to use those MIND GAMES to get back on top. He rolls out of the ring, then starts to leave, while RVD doesn’t know what’s going on. PLUS is stops the momentum that RVD was starting to build.

:lmao at Lawler talking about American Pie and how “One time, at Bandcap, I stuck a flute in my pussy” is his favourite movie line :lmao.

:lmao at JR sounding disgusted by the question of whether or not he’s seen American Pie :lmao.

Goldust’s MIND GAMES didn’t work out as well as he’s have hoped… so Goldust takes a page out of Van Dam’s book and flies off the ropes to the floor with a BIONIC ELBOW!

ASS BUMP TO THE FACE. RVD takes a good ass in the face! :p

Holy fook, Goldust bending RVD’s back over the ring post is BRUTAL :mark:.

Good back work from Goldy, though :lmao at him groaning while applying a hold, with RVD shaking around. Looks like he’s humping him :lmao.

Comeback from RVD is stellar just because of how awesome Goldust takes all his offence and how he bumps from it all.

5 STAR FROG SPLASH~! MISS~! DDT FROM FUCKING HELL!!! RVD takes a good ass in the face and is great at falling head first into the mat too! :lmao

CURTAIN CALL~! COUNTERED~!

Fun little finishing stretch between the two, then RVD wins with the Frog Splash with makes me sad.

But what doesn’t make me sad is that this match still rules :mark:. ALL HAIL GOLDUST!

Test & Booker T Vs Tazz & Sipke Dudley – WWF Tag Team Titles Match

Nice fast start to this one, with Test trying to kill Tazz. I find it pretty :lmao that Tazz is crawling to the ropes and the guy he gets to tag to save him is SPIKE DUDLEY. Might as well have a bloody handicap match :p.

Spike gets killed for a few minutes. Booker T sucks. Nothing new here lol.

Match ends a while later. Tazz and Spike win. This was crappy tbh. Tazz looked sloppy as fuck. Booker sucked. Test was the best guy in it. Spike took a decent beating but nothing special or worth mentioning from him.

Rock cuts a promo. GENERIC ROCK RAMBLINGS~!

Edge Vs William Regal – Brass Knucks on a Poll WWF Intercontinental Championship Match

:mark:. Their Vengeance match is amazing. Their RR match is amazing. I do remember this being the weakest of the 3… but still fucking great.

VICIOUS EDGE is nice to see again. I seem to recall a great deal if not all of his 02 after the Regal series as being more of ATHLETE EDGE with counters and reversals and finishing stretches rather than trying to fucking maul his opponent.

He’s pissed off because Regal caused some INTERNAL BLEEDING a few weeks back. So he’s taking the FIGHT to Regal to try and end this quickly, but Regal gets some shots in and then begins to work the mid section over which will further exasperate the injuries :mark:.

:mark: Edge takes one hell of a bump off the top rope onto the barricade. DOUBLE UNDERHOOK POWERBOMB ON THE FLOOR :mark:. EDGE IS BLEEDING INTERNALLY :mark:.

REGAL STRETCH~! DOUBLE UNDERHOOK POWERBOMB~! Regal can’t get the win via submission or pinfall with those moves… so he finally decides to climb the poll, only to end up crotch first on the ropes!

Regal goes for a powerbomb ON THE APRON, and Edge gets a sort of hurricanrana counter when he holds onto the ropes and just rolls his legs forward and flips Regal over onto the floor! LOOKED NASTY.

ELBOWS TO THE STOMACH :mark:. ELBOWS TO THE FACE :mark:. REGAL GRABS THE KNUCKS!!! But Edge gives him a back superplex before he can use them!

Both men are down and the knucks are in the middle of the ring for anyone to grab! Regal kicks them outside away from Edge, then ends up getting SPEARED!!!

With Regal down, Edge goes outside for the knucks, but Regal decks him when he gets back in and gets the 3 count! Regal had a pair in his penis!!!

:mark: Not as lengthy as I would have liked, but they gets lots of great stuff in, work the gimmick nicely and Regal attacking the injured Edge is :mark:. Good stuff no doubt, but still definitely the weaker of their PPV trilogy.

KURT ANGLE IS GONNA BE HHH’S DADDY.

The Undertaker Vs The Rock

:mark: UNDERTAKER :mark:.

2002 Heel Undertaker = :mark:.

Undertaker TOMBSTONING ROCK ONTO A CAR = :mark:.

Rock runs down to the ring to take it straight to the Dead Man, and does well for about 20 seconds until he runs face first into the boot of the GOAT.

:mark: Undertaker driving his forearm into the back of Rock’s head and crushing it into the mat looks SICK. This is what happens when you DISRESPECT THE DEAD MAN.

Undertaker is working the HEAD of Rock, smart stuff since he Tombstoned him on the car just a few days ago I believe it was. Plus it means plenty of strikes to Rock’s head :mark:. CAVE HIS FUCKING SKULL IN :mark:.

Undertaker: “YOU WANNA GET UP?” *Kicks Rock in the head* “YOU WANNA GET UP?” :mark:.

Rock starts to get on a roll, and he begins to focus on UNDERTAKER’S head now as revenge. Undertaker selling shots to his head is :mark:.

:mark: Undertaker crotches Rock on the barricade then just sits on the ring steps and looks on at him disgusted :lmao. UNDERTAKER IS AMAZING. Then he sets Rock up for a HUGE right hand, looks around at the “people” and then cracks him in the face and sends him over the barricade to the concrete floor.

:lmao at the little spot with the doors. Fairly certain Undertaker was just fucking with the camera man :lmao.

Have I mentioned that UNDERTAKER FUCKING RULES? Because he does, ya know.

Well, it has happened. Someone made the BEARHUG rule. Guess who? UNDERTAKER YOU DUMB FUCKS.

Rock makes his comeback, and even hits a LOW BLOW right in front of the referee… who does fuck all.

JR: “UNDERTAKER JUST GOT HIT IN DEATH VALLEY” :lmao.

CHOKESLAM~! 2 count only :(. So Undertaker goes to “sit” on his bike, looking all suspicious. The ref comes out to see what he’s up to and ends up flying into the steel steps :lmao.

LED PIPE! Flair comes down to stop him and gets DECKED in the face! Rock recovers enough to counter and locks in the Sharpshooter type move he does!

VINCE MCMAHON~! He distracts the referee and The Rock, but then Flair cracks ‘Taker in the head with the pipe! Rock Bottom! Rock… wins? BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!! :(

Aside from this finish, this rocks!!! Undertaker is just fucking incredible ever second of the match. Rock holds his own too btw. And his Sharpshooter actually looks the best it’s ever looked as well!

Triple H Vs Kurt Angle – Special Guest Referee Stephanie McMahon – WrestleMania Title Match on the Line

FAP FAP FAP FAP STEPHANIE FAP FAP FAP FAP. She looks AMAZING in some super short shorts and a referee top with her tits hanging out.

Match starts and Angle keeps trying to roll up HHH with Stephanie going down quick (hahahahahFAP) to make the count.

:lmao the crowd are chanting “take your shirt off” to Stephanie. PERVERTS.

Shitty brawling. Shitty brawling. Kurt accidentally knocks Stephanie over the ropes and she died or something. HHH waves her off with his crotch in Angle’s face. LOL. Normal referee now. Boooo. Tim White isn’t nearly as FAPABLE as Stephanie.

Shitty brawling. SUPLEXES~! MORE SUPLEXES~! A COUPLE OF EXTRA SUPLEXES JUST FOR GOOD LUCK~!

YEY SLEEPER HOLD!!! Ah well, a rest spot at least cuts down on the shitty brawling and SUPLEXES for a minute or so :p.

STEPHANIE FAP FAP IS BACK :D. Aaaand gets knocked out again straight away. Booooo.

Ref bump. Ref bump. Ref bump. Ref bump. Shenanigans. Suplexes. Shitty brawling. Steel chair. Screwjob. Angle wins. And that is the entire match summed up. Also, shit.

HHH cums out of his mouth at the end of something.

Rock mocks the NWO. I hope they run into him with a big truck or something.

Chris Jericho Vs Steve Austin – WWF Undisputed Championship Match

First 5 minutes or so see Austin in control mostly. Plenty of punches and chops lol. Jericho keeps getting some shots in but Austin cuts him off all the time.

BRAWLING UP BY THE STAGE~! Austin seems to be treating this more like a 99/99 AE match lol. Which sucks.

Austin trying to superplex Jericho from every corner is :mark:. Wish more people would try that these days lol. Would probably work well for Daniel Bryan.

Poor Jericho. His entire title run was booked with him as the underdog champion. Which isn’t good for a heel :lmao. This reminds me a little of Undertaker/HHH from Insurrextion with Austin never giving Jericho THAT much heat, but at least he does give him SOME. HHH fucked Undertaker far too much in their match. So Undertaker beat him 2 years in a row at WM 8*D.

LOL Austin totally rules this match. Not in the awesome way, I mean that he dominates everything and survives EVERYTHING Jericho throws at him including the Walls, Lionsault and a BREAKDOWN ON THE BELT.

STUNNER~! Ref is out though (how many ref bumps in the last 3 matches lol?), so the NWO show up and maul Austin. Jericho picks up the win.

I used to like this :(. Now I don’t. Boooo.

WrestleMania Week – Wrestling View’s Hall of Fame 2014

Hall of Fame 2014

Welcome to Wrestling View’s first ever Hall of Fame!!! From this point on, every year the day before WrestleMania, I will induct someone into the Wrestling View Hall of Fame! Being the first year, I am inducting 3 people, however in future I will stick to just ONE inductee per year in order to keep it as special and “elite” as possible.

Since this IS #WVWMWeek, I felt it would only be right to induct the 3 people who were mostly responsible for WrestleMania being the big success it is today!

Hulk Hogan

Love him or hate him, Hogan is one of THE biggest icons in wrestling history. His popularity in the 1980’s helped the WWF take the world by storm, and his heel turn in 1996 in WCW helped them take over the WWF for a number of years too. He was a main driving force of TWO wrestling boom periods, and deserves to be in any wrestling Hall of Fame for that alone. He might not have been “technically sound” in the ring, but his mere presence electrified fans around the world for years, and always added something to his matches that most wrestlers will never be able to do. His legendary matches (good or bad) with the likes of Andre the Giant, Ultimate Warrior, Randy Savage, Ric Flair, The Rock and others will forever be remembered by fans of multiple generations. His impact on WrestleMania undoubtedly helped it become the phenomenon it is today. He was an major part of the first NINE events, main eventing 8 of them (WM IV was a tournament where he and Andre had a WM 3 match in the first round ending in a draw/double countout or something, and WM 9 he showed up after the main event to challenged Yokozuna for the WWF championship and won), and of course the first ever WM main event where he teamed with Mr T was imo THE match that helped make WrestleMania a success. His charisma, his energy in the ring, his memorable matches, his multiple title wins and his overall impact ont he business during his lengthy career made him an easy pick for the first ever Wrestling View Hall of Fame!

“Rowdy” Roddy Piper

The Hot Rod! Known for his crazy personality and incredible mic skills more than anything else, Roddy Piper was a HEAT magnet that could incite the crowd simply by making his way to the ring. And then at the same time, he could also become one of the most popular guys on the planet, simply by diverting his attention to heels. Unlike most wrestlers today, who seem to change how they act depending on which “side” they are on, Piper would remain the same loud mouth, quick witted guy he always was regardless of who he was going after. A rare quality for someone to be able to be both heel and face doing the same thing. His career, while not as “flashy” as someone like Hogan (Piper was never a World Champion etc), has left a mark on the business that can never be forgotten, and the first ever WrestleMania might be his biggest accomplishment. As much as Hogan can lay claim to WM 1 being a huge success, Piper is right up there next to him. WM 1 imo was built upon the fact the people wanted to see HOGAN beat the hell out of PIPER. Switch either of them out for anyone else, and WrestleMania, and the WWF, might have never got off the ground. It was the 2 polarising characters and ideals that drew the people into the match and the show. Following WrestleMania 1, Piper would be in one of the 3 main events at WM 2 (WM 2 was a unique event that was held in 3 different locations, each getting their own main event), taking on Mr T (Hogan’s partner for the WM 1 main event tag match) in a boxing match (note: Mr T will NOT be inducted into my Hall of Fame as I won’t be doing a celebrity wing…). While Piper moved back and forth between wrestling and trying to make it in Hollywood (THEY LIVE), he was always welcomed back by the fans and treated like the true legend he is. But as colourful as his in ring career was, his role outside of the ring on PIPER’S PIT might very well define him. His incredible mic skills and ability to out-talk anyone on the planet made for one of the greatest interview shows ever, and would feature many classic moments not only for him, but other wrestlers two. The coconut to Jimmy Snuka’s head helped put Piper on the map prior to WrestleMania. The epic confrontation between Hogan and Andre the Giant, where Andre came out with Bobby Hennan for the first time and challenged Hogan for a title match all took place on Piper’s Pit. Even in 2014, the wrestling world sees value in such a segment, bringing it back time after time in order to help promote matches and get younger talent over. Well deserving of being part of the first Wrestling View Hall of Fame for sure!

Vince McMahon

Since my first Hall of Fame Class is very WrestleMania-centric, who better to induct that Vince McMahon? Hogan and Piper were undoubtedly driving forces to get people to watch the show, but it was Vince who orchestrated the whole thing. It was his vision that made WrestleMania come to life. He wanted to take the WWF from being a regional territory and turn it into a worldwide phenomenon. And he did it. He took the hottest babyface and the hottest heel at the time, and he threw them together, sprinkling celebrities from all walks of life over the top to help enhance the show and it’s appeal to a wider audience. It worked, and wrestling was never the same since. His incredible work ethic and his ability to surround himself with the best talent he can get (be it in ring performers, agents, producers, corporate workers etc) has enabled him to take the WWF/E to heights people would have thought impossible. And even as it looks like things are falling apart (early 90’s steroid scandal, competition from WCW), Vince always finds a way to fight back. His feud with Stone Cold Steve Austin is arguably the main reason for the WWF defeating WCW in the Monday Night Wars. In a similar way to how Hogan/Piper worked, Austin was beloved by everyone and Mr McMahon was hated by everyone, and together they created magic. The fans wanted to see STEVE AUSTIN battle VINCE MCMAHON. Would that have truly worked with any other authority figure? Doubtful. They have tried to recreate the angle over and over again, both with Austin against someone (Bischoff, kinda) and McMahon against someone (HHH, DX etc). It never worked the same because nothing was ever quite as good as Austin Vs McMahon. And being a “WM themed” Hall of Fame, who can possibly forget the incredible moment from WrestleMania 17 when Vince McMahon and Steve Austin SHOOK HANDS and joined forces? Sure, it didn’t really work out the way it could have, but the moment is unforgettable and was as big as it was because of the people involved. One of the many WM moments Vince would have, including matches with his own son Shane, Hulk Hogan and Shawn Michaels! Vince McMahon could go into the Wrestling View Hall of Fame based on his WrestleMania credentials alone, both in the ring and behind the scenes, but his impact on the business transcends even that. It is an honour to welcome Vince McMahon into my Hall of Fame!

WrestleMania Week – Top 10 Streak Matches to Never Happen!

A couple of weeks ago, on a forum I frequent, someone posted this:

Capture

And it got me thinking… just who WOULD I pick to face Undertaker at WM to almost guarantee we got the absolute best Streak match ever? So I decided to steal his idea and turn it into a written feature for WrestleMania Week! 😛

Before I get into my top 10, I’d like to run down a list of names who either didn’t quite make the cut, or who I think other people might say or assume I might say (depending on how well you know me haha), and why I decided to keep them out of my top 10.

William Regal – I love Regal. Huge fan of him and his style, and he’s been involved in some of my all time favourite matches over the years. That being said, I just don’t think a Regal from any time period of his career Vs Undertaker from any time period would have resulted in such a great match. Their styles are vastly different, and given the size difference I’m not so sure Regal’s offence would have suited an opponent like Undertaker. I’d have definitely paid to see a big PPV match between the two just because of how much I enjoy both men’s work, but a Streak match? Unfortunately no.

Finlay – Right up there with Regal as someone I absolutely adore. Guy rocks the planet with his awesome wrestling style, and has had some killer matches in his career. While these two WOULD be more suited as opponents (proven on SD in 2007 when they had a GREAT match), I still don’t think they could have had a match worthy of what the Streak has become these days. IF it were to have happened though, I would have gone with 2006 Finlay against a BIG EVIL version of Undertaker, maybe from 2003 (Finlay Vs Undertaker at WM 19? God how awesome would that have been?!?!). But as the Streak has become something perhaps even bigger than the WWE WHC, I’d have a hard time imagining Finlay being perceived as being on THAT level against Undertaker at WM. Which is sad because given the chance Finlay could make it work.

Ric Flair – Yes, I know they actually HAD a WM match back in 2002, and it was damn good, but mid-80’s Flair was a name I first thought of when asked the question so I thought I should address it. Flair in the 1980’s was off the charts. His 1985 and 1989 years are talked about as all time great years for ANY wrestler, with both years given us some of the greatest Ric Flair matches ever. BUT kind of like Regal, I’m not sure THIS Flair, as great as he was, would have been a good opponent for Undertaker in a Streak match. Back then Flair certainly had his own kind of match that he liked to work, and I just don’t see it being a STREAK worthy match or connecting that well with Undertaker as his opponent in general. Even a babyface Flair from this time period Vs Undertaker just doesn’t feel right to me. Thankfully we did get their match in 2002 and I wouldn’t change the components in the slightest. We had a Big Evil heel Undertaker Vs an ageing Ric Flair and everything just clicked. Perfect.

Randy Savage – So this was the pic from the guy who brought up the question to begin with. Honestly I don’t see it myself. Like Flair, I don’t see them working together that well. Which is crazy when you consider that Savage had an absolutely incredible match at WrestleMania with THE ULTIMATE WARRIOR. A match like that might have had the best chance to work if these two ever had a Streak match, but honestly I’m just having a hard time imagining them really having magic together. Not doing the best job of explaining myself here I know, having a hard time really putting my feelings into words haha. Not even a Big Evil heel Undertaker Vs an ageing Randy Savage would have been good like the Flair match imo. Savage as he got older really did “lose” it as far as I’m concerned, which was a shame. I’ll just leave it at that unless I evenutally figure out a way to write down EXACTLY what I mean lol.

Christian – This is definitely more of an “honourable mention” rather than a “someone I might have picked but didn’t because…”. Take 2009 Christian, who was almost unarguably the BEST WWE wrestler at the time (and probably the entire world. Nobody in TNA or ROH came close from what I saw. No idea about Japan though), and an absolute SUPERB babyface wrestler, and stick him in the ring at WrestleMania against a 2002 Big Evil Undertaker (heel obviously) and man oh man this could have been MAGIC. Have Undertaker beat down and bloody the underdog babyface, give Christian some hope spots only for Undertaker to knock him right back down again (maybe even CHEATING to do it, which for a big guy like Undertaker would be completely unnecessary and such a HEEL thing to do), then go into a big hot finishing stretch. That’s a very basic way to state the match structure, but when you have someone like Christian who (especially in 2009 on ECW) could play such an incredible babyface working such a structured match (which has worked since like the beginning of the universe lol) against a pro like Undertaker, you would get something so far beyond basic it’s unreal. People talk about dream matches, and they are usually 2 “megastars” battling in their primes at a big event, but for me, dream matches are something more like this. Christian unfortunately isn’t a “megastar” which is why this match would never happen at WM (or anywhere now), but the match they COULD have given the time and opportunity is what makes it a dream match for me.

Ricky Steamboat – Steamboat is an all time favourite of mine, and has been involved in some of my all time favourite matches. The Flair series is what comes to mind for most people when they think of Steamboat, but you absolutely cannot forget his incredible matches against so many other opponents, 2 of my favs being Regal and Vader. The Vader match saw the Mastodon absolutely MAUL poor Steamboat, until Steamboat could take no more and fired back at the bigger opponent until SID screwed him out of a potential win. So while Steamboat has had a great match with a larger, much more dominating opponent in Vader, I’m still not overly convinced he could have THAT kind of match with The Undertaker. And honestly I’d put the “blame” more on Undertaker and how he works and how his character is as to why the match probably wouldn’t hit it on all cylinders. Both of them in their primes in a big match is still something I’d fucking love to see, more so with Undertaker as BIG EVIL, but a Streak match is out of the question for me tbh.

Mark Henry – Yep, like Flair, this match already happened. Back in 2006. And it was “meh”. However… picture this… 2006-current Undertaker Vs Mark Henry… from 2011. HALL OF PAIN. I was actually considering this for the top 10 list, but at the time I only had 9 guys on the list and while coming up with a 10th… I came up with 11, and had to cut someone, and unfortunately it was Henry. But only because the other 2 guys were more appealing. I’d still fucking pay to see this happen! Henry in 2011 once he turned heel was an absolute MONSTER. He’d always shown signs of being great, hell even back in 2006 when he originally faced Undertaker at WM, he was getting another push as a big monster heel and DID have some damn good matches (a couple superb matches with Rey, a better than their WM match with Undertaker on SD, and an incredible Benoit bout), but it wasn’t until 2011 that everything fell into place and he really was damn good on a consistent basis. He completely mauled guys like Big Show, Kane and Sheamus, took the WHC from Orton (beating him clean 2 PPV’s in a row) and probably would have gone to WM with the title had he not gotten injured. Imagine if he stayed healthy and made it to WM with the belt… only to face THE UNDERTAKER! Definitely something I would have loved to watch!

Razor Ramon – Dammit, this guy was ON my top 10 list… until someone brought up something about Japanese wrestling and BAM, I realised I forgot someone. So unfortunately poor Razor Ramon had to be cut. But hey, he’s going in the WWE Hall of Fame this year so it’s not all bad, right? Razor was one of my favourites as a kid. I grew up during the “New Generation” era of WWF and even to this day I’m a huge fan of that time period. Undertaker, Diesel, HBK, Bret, Owen, Yoko, Vader, Bulldog, 123-Kid, Bam Bam Bigelow and others, along with of course THE BAD GUY, RAZOR RAMON. Razor himself has said he’s a “punchy babyface” in that he used a lot of punches in his matches to start his comeback and to cut off heels etc. Undertaker is without a doubt one of THE best strikers in WWE history. Sure it’s something of a “cliché Michael Cole” line, but I’ll be damned if it ain’t true! So my idea for these two would be 1995-1996 Razor Ramon as a babyface against a 2002 Big Evil heel Undertaker! Undertaker can beat down Razor with HIS striking ability, then Razor can make his comebacks with HUGE right hands of his own to match Undertaker punch for punch. A simple formula, but with how both characters are and everything else they can do, I picture this being an incredible match. And hell, even a HEEl Razor Vs 2002-2003 babyface Undertaker would work wonders too! It’s a shame these two only had about 3 matches together, and were short (around 10 minutes) with no decisive finish, and only taped for VHS releases. If Razor had stuck around in 1996 instead of going to WCW, I definitely think this would have been a big PPV match at some point. Oh, what could have been.

Sting – What? WHAT? Sting isn’t on my top 10 list? That’s INSANE, right? So he’s just an honourable mention? Well… no. Not even that. Sting Vs Undertaker is not a match I would EVER want to happen, never mind at WrestleMania!!! Even in his prime (around 1992), I never thought much of Sting. Outside of the Vader matches, Sting just hasn’t done much worth talking about. The Flair matches were bad in my opinion. And uhhh… is anything really pimped outside of his series with Flair and Vader? He has 2 good matches with DDP on Nitro, one in 1998 and one in 1999 (the better of the two, though they are both extremely similar), and an incredible match with Regal in 1996… and that’s about it. His series with Vader, while I’d say Vader was the better man, wasn’t a carry job for sure (though any faults I tend to find with the matches are on Sting’s behalf). The Regal match was a 100% Regal carry job. So yeah, my thoughts on Sting are not high whatsoever. Which is why I don’t see the appeal of a potential match between the two. Sting in the ring kinda sucks, and his gimmick just never struck me as something that would mix well with Undertaker’s (his Crow gimmick of course, which is the time when everyone wanted the match to happen). Undertaker is basically a walking DEAD MAN who at times was downright EVIL AND DEMONIC. Sting was just… a regular guy who one day wore a black trench coat and decided to hang out in the rafters. Yeah… those sound similar… So between gimmicks that to me make no sense to compete against each other, and Sting never been all that good in the ring, this is absolutely a match I don’t think would have ever been good and should never happen. Sadly right now in 2014 there does seem to be a small possibility of it happening, I just hope if they do go ahead with a match they stay away from WrestleMania as it simply doesn’t belong there.

 THE TOP 10

I’ve talked about some of the more “obvious” choices, now its time to get to the actual top 10!!!

NUMBER 10

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs Kurt Angle (2006)

This match SHOULD have happened at WrestleMania. In 2006, at the No Way Out PPV, Angle and Undertaker wrestled for the World Heavyweight Championship. Angle retained, but not without some controversy, so a REMATCH between the two at WrestleMania would have been absolutely perfect to conclude this little rivalry, especially after the incredible match they had at No Way Out. If you haven’t seen it yet, or don’t remember much about it, go back and watch that match. It’s awesome, right? Yup. Now imagine them doing that at WrestleMania! Even the Shawn Michaels/Undertaker matches would have a hard time competing with it. Instead, what DID we get at WM 22 that year? Undertaker in a mediocre casket match with Mark Henry, and Angle in a triple threat spotty mess with Orton and Mysterio, because Rey just HAD to win the title in honour of Eddie Guerrero. Which I’m not going to complain about too much because Eddie was awesome and seeing someone win the belt in his memory was nice, AND Rey absolutely fucking deserved a title run… but I just wish it could have happened at another time and place.

The crowd in Chicago that night were incredible, so just imagine them getting this match for the WHC. Both were babyfaces, both were at the top of their game, and both would have put on the performance of a lifetime. Angle as the Olympic Gold Medallist and Undertaker as the veteran who is ever adapting to keep up with the times and with new opponents and new styles. They worked those things into their No Way Out match WONDERFULLY, so having a rematch on the grandest stage of them all would have made them step it up a notch. As much as I dislike Angle most of the time, he had tremendous chemistry with The Undertaker, and I have zero doubts that this would have been in any way bad. Their No Way Out match for a long time was my favourite match ever (until I got around to re-watching the first ever HIAC and realised nothing even comes close to it lol), I can only imagine what I would think to a WM match between the two.

NUMBER 9

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs Chris Benoit (2003-2005)

Why did we never get this match? Why? Couldn’t we have at least had it on another PPV? Something? We DID get 3 matches between these two… but they all took place in 2000 when Undertaker wasn’t exactly stealing the show every night, and they were never presented as big matches. One on Raw, one on Smackdown, and then one at Rebellion, a UK “PPV” which was basically a house show they glammed up a bit, taped and made us UK fans pay £15 to watch lol. I would even have settled for a damn TV match on Smackdown in 2006/2007, as at least then they were really putting effort into big TV matches, with both guys having some tremendous TV matches with a variety of opponents at the time. Maybe we WOULD have gotten this eventually, had the whole incident in 2007 never happened, but it could have still just ended up as a TV match like Jericho/Undertaker (not complaining too much about that one since I was there)… but even then Undertaker and Benoit HAD wrestled before. The only way to go was a big PPV match imo. And yeah, Wrestle-fucking-Mania was perfect.

Match on paper would seem similar to Angle/Undertaker, with Benoit as the better “wrestler” on the match and Undertaker having to adapt his style to keep up and hopefully win. Only difference is… Benoit could have been much more VICIOUS. Less flashly kick outs and more narly, gritty brawling and mat exchanges, and probably some of the better “will The Undertaker TAP OUT?” moments ever. Because when Benoit locked in the Crossface you got the impression he could tear your damn head off if you didn’t tap. And that would have been PERFECT for a Streak match to add that much needed drama.

NUMBER 8

The Undertaker (2002-2003) Vs Genichiro Tenryu (1990’s)

Cannot believe I originally forgot about TENRYU. His addition to my list knocked Razor Ramon off, but you know what? It was fucking worth it. Take the GRUMPY OLD BASTARD version of Tenryu (which has been most of his career tbh lol), and take the babyface BIG EVIL Undertaker, and just let these guys PUNCH EACH OTHER IN THE FACE for an hour. Would rival the HIAC match as the greatest match of all times. Hell, heel Big Evil Undertaker would work two. Might actually work better. Heel Undertaker would go to greater lengths to try and KILL Tenryu, while Tenryu would just look at him in disgust and punch him in the fucking FACE. Unsure really what else to talk about with this one. If you are familiar with TENRYU then I genuinely hope you understand WHY I would love to see this happen. If you aren’t, then you’ll just have to take my word that it would be the greatest thing ever (while also looking up some damn TENRYU matches because you should).

NUMBER 7

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs Jake “The Snake” Roberts (1986-1988)

Fully aware that this happened at WrestleMania. But it wasn’t what it COULD have been had everything aligned properly like it could if I had this magical time machine thingy. Jake in 1992 when their match happened, wasn’t anywhere near the top of his game. His personal problems were, well, a big problem, plus he was leaving the company. They got very little time to work the match, and while I liked what they did, it’s still very disappointing when you know just how fucking good Jake can be and how incredible Undertaker can be too.

So I’d bring this version of Jake into say, 2008. With all the TV WWE had even back then, they could REALLY put a ton of effort into the build up. Start it early, maybe even in a similar way to how it happened back in the day, with Undertaker and Jake working together. Then do the turn, and it can all really get started from there. The promos would be incredible, and being able to do something every week on TV, with replays of it multiple times a week on other shows would just enhance their impact imo. Hell, honestly, I wouldn’t change the core structure of their original feud. It was great. They started off friends, Undertaker turned on him, and from there both guys tried to out do each other with the mind games. Only this time you’d have, as I already set, more TV time to build on it, better production, and both men are their absolute best too. And with THE STREAK being of such importance now too, they wouldn’t get shafted with a short meaningless match at WrestleMania.

NUMBER 6

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs Eddie Guerrero (2005)

This is another of those matches that we MIGHT have eventually got had Eddie not tragically died in 2005. They never had a singles match, in fact as far as I’m aware, the only encounters they had were a 6 man tag in 2002, and then the 4 way match at Armageddon in 2004. And that’s IT.

So we take Eddie in 2005 when he was the absolute BEST in the company at the time in terms of being an incredible heel character and still producing incredible matches (REY series!), and put him up against the best version of Undertaker for match quality and BAM, no way can this go wrong. Sadistic heel Eddie can talk up the Guerrero legacy, and put himself over as being the best in the world. He can tell us how he’s “been there and done that” with the WWE championship, so now he wants to go after something else to cement his name in history. And that something else would be THE STREAK. Eddie during the match could really channel that incredible heel character he had at the time, doing anything and everything he can to counter Undertaker’s size and power and to try and BEAT the Dead Man and end the Streak. Match wouldn’t even need to be No DQ or anything, as it would allow Eddie to play up on the “lie, cheat and steal” stuff, but not necessarily in a way that would make the fans cheer for him. It’s one thing during a Streak match for someone to hit a finisher and get a near fall, but imagine Eddie cheating like FUCK to keep Undertaker down and get near falls from that!

NUMBER 5

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs Mick Foley (1996-1997)

These two had one HELL of a rivalry back in the mid 90’s, producing some incredible matches. One on one, Buried Alive, Casket (house show), Hell in a Cell, and one on one matches that more resembled wild crazy No DQ brawls. Oh and that Boiler Room Brawl match… but the less said about that the better. And yet… no WrestleMania match? Huge missed opportunity there imo. WM 13 in 1997 would have been PERFECT for sure. A little re-booking her and there to keep the belt on Bret after the Final Four PPV, allowing Bret/Austin to be for the title, then switch Sid and Mankind around so we get Mankind Vs Undertaker, and the title titles match could have been Davey/Owen Vs THE MASTERS OF THE POWERBOMB (Sid & Vader). Hell I could probably write a damn piece on just re-booking WrestleMania 13 lol, but gotta stay on topic here; Undertaker Vs Mankind at WrestleMania!

So even though I’ve gone with a much later version of Undertaker, even if we stuck to the actual time in 1997, the match would have still been incredible. Undertaker and Foley had incredible chemistry together, and could have easily had a classic back then at WM. But bring that version of Mankind into a more current time against an even BETTER Undertaker, and during a time when THE STREAK is actually a thing and incredibly important, and you have the makings of not only a classic match but one of the better feuds ever. In fact, A couple of years ago I started writing a scenario for an Undertaker Vs Mankind WM feud, leading up to WM 26 I think it was a the time. I wrote out the first promo/segment for the build up but as with a lot of things I start, I just never finished it. The basic idea for the feud at the time was for Mankind to come out and talk about how he hates seeing Undertaker like this. No longer “on the hunt” like he was back during their mid-90’s feud, but instead content to wait for someone to come out and challenge HIM for a match at WrestleMania. So he would have to get Undertaker to challenge HIM instead, and the premise for the WM match wouldn’t be about beating the Streak, it would be about beating the living hell out of each other. Since then though, we HAVE had Undertaker switch it up and be the one to make the challenge, against Triple H at WM 28, though I think the way I envisioned it for Mankind would be WAY better haha. And yeah, that’s just the BUILD UP. The actual match? FUGGEDABOUDIT. An in shape, healthy (for his standards) Mankind Vs Undertaker at his very best, in a massively high profile match at WrestleMania built around the two of them destroying each other? PURE. FUCKING. HEAVEN.

NUMBER 4

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs Terry Funk (1989)

I’m sure (or at least, I hope), everyone knows about TERRY FUNK in 1989. The angle and matches with Flair, mainly. My idea for a Streak match with Funk is to take part of what actually happened in 1989 but tweak it for Undertaker rather than Flair. Funk could be on commentary or something for a big Undertaker match, say at the Royal Rumble. Undertaker wins, then does the whole “point at the WM logo” thing that everyone does nowadays, to show that his mind is now on WM and who his next victim will be. Cue Funk getting in the ring and congratulating Undertaker. Funk as a well known, well respected veteran would be the kind of guy who COULD get in the ring with ‘Taker and do that without getting a random Chokeslam just for the hell of it. Funk can then do a sort of improv interview with the Dead Man, asking him who he thinks the next Streak challenger will be… and that’s when Funk can “jokingly” throw his own name into the hat. Undertaker, upon hearing it, can just smirk at Terry, similar to how he did it to HHH during their encounter leading up to WM 27. And that’s what sets Funk off. He can laugh it off to begin with, then when Undertaker turns his back, BAM. Microphone to the back of the head followed by Terry beating the shit out of the Dead Man. Funk is a well renowned TOUGH SOB and Undertaker just had a match so it wouldn’t be hard to think that Undertaker would be unable to make a comeback here. Piledriver through a table, and the WrestleMania match is set!

For the match, little more needs to be done that to make it No DQ/Falls Count Anywhere or something. Funk as the crazed “old man” (OLD in 1989 lol… compared to what he is NOW?) resorting to using everything he can get his hands on to brutalise Undertaker. Undertaker, also being from Texas, probably has a world of respect for Funk and would be willing to make him look as good as possible, selling everything as great as Undertaker can sell it (which is like, world class levels of selling) and letting him get as much offence in as he wants. A punch exchange from these two would make my private parts all tingly. Just let them both have a big wild, crazy brawl, take it backstage, into the crowd, fucking everywhere. Would be unique for a Streak match for starters, and these two guys beating the hell out of each other in a variety of ways would be nothing short of AWESOME.

NUMBER 3

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs John Cena (2007)

This match could still actually happen. Not 2007 Cena obviously, but it could still ACTUALLY HAPPEN. And it kind NEEDS to happen. Cena is the one guy left on the roster right now who could challenge The Streak and make the outcome unpredictable. Something we haven’t had in quite some time. Cena is known for being “Superman” who overcomes all the odds no matter what, and is a guy who WWE go to great lengths to push even further and put him over even more. Which makes him the perfect WM opponent for The Undertaker, but despite everything, in the back of all our minds, we will be thinking “yeah, Undertaker’s streak is probably never gonna end… BUT WWE might actually consider letting Cena end it…”. So while most of us DO get caught up in the moment watching WM live as someone hits their finisher on ‘Taker… I guarantee EVERYONE will be caught up in the moment as Cena locks in the STFU or hits an AA from the top rope. The atmosphere in any arena for this match would be electric, which would only ADD to the viewing experience. I just hope we really do get it soon, certainly over something like a Sting match.

NUMBER 2

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs Vader (1992-1993)

They had a few matches in 1997, but in all honesty I was disappointed with them all. WWF Vader just wasn’t VADER. But take the early 90’s WCW champion Vader, and put him against Undertaker (from virtually any time period tbh), and I think it’s almost guaranteed to be far better than anything we got in WWF 1997. Vader as the big monster heel who wants to CRUSH Undertaker, and Undertaker as the legend fighting to keep his Streak alive against one of the biggest threats ever. I’d imagine the match to be somewhat similar to the 08 matches between Undertaker and Big Show; just huge guys trying to cave each other’s faces in. Vader being able to really let loose and not be toned down by WWF would make Big Show look like a CHUMP. Undertaker firing back with HIS strikes would be awesome to see, and of course his selling of Vader’s offence would make this whole thing incredible to watch. Oh, and imagine the near fall we could get from a fucking VADER MOONSAULT!!!

NUMBER 1

The Undertaker (2006-Current) Vs Jerry “The King” Lawler (1980’s)

Ok, I know what some of you must be thinking; I’ve finally lost my mind. Right? I guess it all depends on how much (if any), you’ve seen of Lawler during the 80’s. Unfortunately a lot of people today, when they think of Lawler, they only really know him from his WWF run, either in the ring (which honestly never produced much goodness) or commentary (which has been dreadful ever since he returned after Survivor Series in 2001). But for those who have seen his work in Memphis and the like from the 1980’s, you should know just how fucking GREAT Jerry Lawler was (and still is, he CAN still produce greatness today). He could be the ultimate underdog, fighting from underneath against a monster heel, or he could be one giant PRICK heel who would cheat every chance he got behind the referee’s back.

A match between these two could be absolute, undeniable MAGIC given the right circumstances. Went back and forth for a while with myself (as I often do. I’M NOT CRAZY) as to which Undertaker I should use. Big Evil Heel from 2001-2002 was sooo close to being picked for this, but in the end I went with 06-current as he’s been at his BEST in the ring during this time. However, I’d make Undertaker the HEEL for this. Lawler as the uber babyface fighting back against a demonic heel Undertaker is just… just… ORGASMIC. Book the match similar to the epic Loser Leaves Town match between Lawler and Dundee from 1985, with a heel Undertaker just punching the shit out of Lawler. More of a boxing match than a wrestling match. Undertaker just continues to punch the shit out of Lawler, busting him open, targeting an eye, and the crowd would be 100% behind Lawler making that big comeback. And when he does, the roof would blow off any damn arena anywhere in the world. All it would take is a well placed punch to create enough space for Lawler to rest for a few seconds and throw ANOTHER punch. And from there, the straps can come down and we have ourselves the hottest finishing stretch imaginable for a match. Hell, stick this match in the Mid-South Coliseum during the 1980’s and you’d have the most MOLTEN HOT crowd ever too. Well I’m just gonna shut my eyes and imagine this entire match…. ahhhhh.

So there it is! My list of the Top 10 Streak matches to Never Happen! Hope you enjoyed reading it, and I’ve love to hear YOUR top 10 list too! So feel free to post a comment below!
