With Survivor Series taking place tonight, I figured I give my thoughts and predictions on the card :).
First off, its such a shame The Undertaker it currently out injured. Making an appearance or having a match at his 20th Anniversary would have been a great moment, but I guess its not going to happen :(.
WWE Intercontinental Title Match – Dolph Ziggler (c) Vs Kaval
Fuck yeah! Ziggler against former ROH/Indie stars seems to be something he could make a career out of lol. His 3 matches with Danielson last month were all great, and I have a feeling his match with Kaval could be a MOTYC like the PPV match against Danielson. Now if only Punk wasn’t injured… and a face… :P.
Nice to see that WWE didn’t forget about Kaval getting a title shot for winning NXT Season 2, and good to see they didn’t waste it on a World Title shot that nobody in their right mind would believe in a title change. I’m not expecting a title change here either, but there is a significantly greater chance that Kaval will leave with the belt than if it was a WHC match lol.
Winner – Dolph Ziggler, but I really, really hope they have multiple matches like the Danielson series. Maybe one more on TV and then lead up to another PPV match with more of a feud behind it.
WWE United States Title Match – Daniel Bryan (c) Vs Ted DiBiase Jr
Just found out this was added to the card lol. No build to it beyond DiBiase attacking Danielson on Raw last week. Would have preferred they wait and do it next month with a feud behind it, but hey, Danielson on PPV is always gonna equal awesomeness.
Don’t expect this to be quite as good as Ziggler/Kaval, but if any match on this card has the chance to compete with it as MOTN, its this.
Winner – Daniel Bryan. DiBiase in NO WAY deserves the belt, never mind with zero build up to the match. I am hoping, and hell, even predicting, that Bryan has a nice lengthy title run, maybe going into WrestleMania with the belt (hopefully against Punk!).
WWE Tag Team Titles Match – Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater (c) Vs Santino Marella & Vladimir Kozlov
I guess its good to see the tag titles doing something, just a shame its in a match with zero feud or buildup, and with 2 shitty teams.
Winners – Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater.
5 on 5 Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match – Rey Mysterio, The Big Show, Kofi Kingston, Chris Masters & MVP Vs Alberto Del Rio, Tyler Rex, Drew McIntyre, Jack Swagger & Cody Rhodes
This match basically came out of nowhere, but after Smackdown this week, I’m really looking forward to it. There is some amazing talent in the match, and quite a few of them have really good chemistry with each other, so I am expecting a pretty good match. Also, its great to see Chris Masters on PPV! Loved the way the commentators were putting him over on Smackdown too. I just hope he doesn’t get eliminated first, or earlyish. He is a tremendous Face in Peril, probably the second best out of all the guys in the match just behind Mysterio, so he could do wonders for the match if he is giving a chance.
Winners – Team Alberto Del Rio. I think its time for this feud to end between Rey and Alberto, and Alberto needs the win while Mysterio doesn’t need it in the slightest. I can see the match coming down to the two of them as well.
Singles Match – Sheamus Vs John Morrison
Really don’t give a flying fuck about this match. Sheamus is a solid guy, while Morrison is god awful for the most part. Not a fan of his random flippy shit that he does. Shame too, because he DID have a great run on Smackdown in 2008, where he didn’t flip around as much, and when he did it make sense for him to do so. Now with his new “parkour” gimmick it seems to limit him to JUST doing the flips, and it makes me want to stay away from his matches.
Winner – Sheamus, just because I can’t stand Morrison :P.
WWE Diva’s Title Handicap Match – Michelle McCool & Layla (c) Vs Natalya
Yawn.
Winner(s) – Natalya, just for the hell of it.
World Heavyweight Title Match – Kane (c) Vs Edge
Oh noes, Edge kidnapped Paul Bearer and is… putting food on him. The horror!
The only thing “horror” here is the build up. Its fucking horrible. Kane is a monster, who for 3 or 4 months straight demolished The Undertaker… and Edge has been getting the better of him every week. Yeah, that’s fucking believable…
Not expecting anything resembling a good match here, but hey, they have surprised me in the past by having good matches (though that was like, 5 years ago).
Winner – Kane. Edge having the World Title again would actually be worse than Kane holding on to it for another month before dropping it to someone good.
WWE Title Match – Randy Orton (c) Vs Wade Barrett – Special Referee John Cena. If Barrett wins the title, Cena is free from Nexus. If not, Cena is fired.
The match is about as interesting as watching paint dry for me, but the angle has me wanted to at least see the outcome. Will Cena screw Orton to officially turn heel and join Nexus for real? Will he just screw Orton to get out of Nexus? Will he screw Nexus and come up with some stupid clause to stay in the company? Thanks to Piper’s Pit last week on Raw, I am actually excited to see what happens. Only Piper can get me interested in something with Cena, Orton and Barrett lol. As far as the actual match goes though, who gives a shit?
Winner – Wade Barrett. Yep, going with my fellow country man, not just because he’s English (though technically I’m Scottish, but that’s not the point…), but because I am predicting Cena screws Orton and turns heel.
Overall I think the PPV is half potentially great and half potentially shit, with a very unpredictable and interesting ending to the show. Guess I’ll just have to watch and find out!
